Very pleased to see our Alsager Parkinson’s Tai Chi Balls & Qigong support group featured in the newspaper 😊

💙 New Parkinson’s Support Group in Alsager 💙

Since January, a new Parkinson’s support programme has been running at Alsager Civic Centre, bringing people together in a warm, supportive environment.

🕜 Every Thursday | 1:30pm – 3:00pm

The sessions include gentle Tai Chi–inspired movement, designed to support balance, flexibility and muscle strength, alongside meditation practices to help improve mental wellbeing and cognitive health. All sessions are led by an experienced instructor and are suitable for people living with Parkinson’s.

☕ Each session finishes with tea, coffee, biscuits and a friendly chat, giving everyone the chance to connect and build meaningful friendships within a welcoming support group.

Participants have described the group as “life changing”, highlighting real benefits to both their physical health and mental wellbeing:
“It’s invaluable to be with people who truly understand the challenges of Parkinson’s.”
“It’s a wonderful course – I always feel refreshed after attending.”

This programme has been made possible thanks to a grant from Parkinson’s UK, awarded to the Cedars Patient Group.

Emma Hughes, Area Development Manager at Parkinson’s UK, said:
“It's great to see the launch of these Tai Chi inspired sessions in Alsager. We know staying active can be one of the best ways to live well with Parkinson’s, and these sessions are a perfect way to start.”

According to the lunar calendar, 5th May marks the official start of summer ☀️🌿

In Chinese wellness philosophy, our body moves with the rhythm of nature. As the weather becomes warmer and Yang energy grows stronger, it is a good reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, keep moving gently, and take care of both body and mind.

I’ve attached a little summer wellness leaflet with a few gentle reminders for this season 💛
