Today is Young Carers Action Day, focused on ensuring that young carers receive the support they truly need and deserve. This year's theme, "Give Me A Break," comes straight from young carers themselves, urging for better support that allows them to take regular breaks, helping them recharge so they can continue their vital role in caregiving.

The Young Carers and School Outreach team at Carers Trust Hillingdon and Ealing are hosting various activities today to support the cause. Stay tuned for more updates on their efforts after the event!

The Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge

The Jack Petchey Foundation aims to inspire young people in London and Essex through exciting projects and programs.

This challenge gives young people a platform to express their views, with events celebrating their voices as they discuss topics that matter to them.

Noel Simpson, our Young Carer Transition Officer, was inspired by the young speakers at the Hillingdon Regional Final, where he served as a judge.

Thanks to the Jack Petchey Foundation, we’ve received personal awards for young carers who overcome challenges with individual recognition, encouraging them to strive for greater achievements.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been selected as a Co-op community cause! This means Co-op members can help raise funds to support the health and wellbeing services we provide for our unpaid family carers. Here’s how you can help:

1. Click https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/89980
2. Click the link to become a Co-op member and follow the instructions
3. After paying £1.00, select us as your chosen local cause.
4. That’s it – thank you so much for your support.

Please share with your family and friends nationwide - you don’t need to be local to support the cause.

During Anti-Bullying Week on 11th-15th November, the Young Carers School outreach team spreads positivity!

At a local school, the team led an exercise where the word of the week was RESPECT, as part of PSHE lessons. Focusing on respect helps promote kindness, empathy, and healthy relationships, creating a supportive environment for all students, including young carers.

To learn more about registering a young carer or our Schools Outreach programme please email [email protected] or call 01895 811206 and ask for the Young Carers team.
