I found this photo today and, although I don't normally like sharing my "before" pictures, I felt I had to share this one.
The first photo was taken at the start of my training in Manchester last week. I was exhausted, dehydrated, running on very little sleep, and generally feeling like crap – although I was incredibly excited to be there.
The second photo was taken just three days later, immediately after receiving a Facial Lymphatic Drainage treatment with Buccal Massage.
The difference i think is unbelievable.
The swelling around my face had reduced significantly, my skin looked brighter, my eyes looked more open, and I simply felt so much better in myself. The biggest benefit i found though was that i was bursting with energy 😍The only downside is that the therapist who treated me is based in Manchester, so unless I fancy regular flights, I'll need to teach Carmel exactly what she needs to do so I can get the treatment myself lol
What surprised me most wasn't just the visible results. It was what happened during my training.
On the first day, I hadn't eaten since the previous evening. I was dehydrated, exhausted and had barely drank any water. During the training I received around 90 minutes of Lymphatic Drainage. Afterwards I was starving and inhaled my lunch around 2pm.
About 45 minutes later I started vomiting, experienced intense hot flushes and genuinely felt like I was going to faint. It was awful at the time, but looking back I'm actually grateful it happened because it taught me some very valuable lessons.
It highlighted just how important hydration, sleep and self-care are for supporting our body's natural systems.
Many people arrive for treatments stressed, exhausted, dehydrated and running on empty. Whilst treatments such as Lymphatic Drainage can be incredibly beneficial, they work best when we support our bodies outside the treatment room too.
That's why when clients come for any Lymphatic Drainage treatment, I will always encourage them to:
💧 Stay well hydrated before and after treatment
🥗 Eat a light meal a few hours beforehand
😴 Aim for 6-9 hours of quality sleep where possible
🚶♀️ Move regularly throughout the day, as the lymphatic system relies heavily on movement
🧘♀️ Manage stress where possible, as prolonged stress can impact overall wellbeing
I will also be teaching clients simple techniques they can use at home to help support lymphatic flow between treatments.
A treatment is never just about what happens on the treatment bed. The best results come when we work together to support the body as a whole.
The more I learn, the more passionate I become about helping people understand how incredible the body really is.
And after seeing my own results, I can't wait to start sharing these treatments with all of you. 💚
