Your Friday night takeaway isn't the problem

Having a takeaway and a few drinks at the weekend aren’t the problem, it's the mindset you get into afterwards

You eat around 21 meals each week, so in the grand scheme of things, that one pizza and 2 or 3 glasses of w**e aren't gonna undo all your progress. The problem is, you tell yourself you "messed up" which then causes you to spiral into f**k it mode for the rest of the weekend, cuz this weeks ruined now right?

This is where the immediate reset comes in, its something I use all the time with clients, and I use it myself too. When you do overeat, reset at the next possible opportunity

No waiting for Monday! Waiting for Monday just means you will continue to spiral for the rest of the weekend. The next time you have the choice to move your body, feed yourself, or whatever the choice may be, reset from that point

This will nip that spiral in the bud, and allow you to get back to where you need to be so much quicker

Give it a try this weekend, and let me know how you get on, my DMs are always open

Decided to treat myself to a little self care day yesterday

Started the day with a walk, then did my workout and got some work done. Made myself some nice food, the beef stew and dumplings was perfect for a cosy evening

My pre ordered copy of Burn of the everflame was delivered yesterday too, so excited to read it!!

Finished off the day with some evening yoga and then movie night with snacks (all portioned out into bowls of course) watched project hail mary which was absolutely brilliant, highly recommend!

When i first decided to start my coaching business i felt like a bit of a fraud, I was filled with self doubt. I wasn’t as lean as other coaches, didn't have visible abs, and thought maybe I was just too old to start.

I kept telling myself I'd just do one more course, get one more qualification then i'd be ready. In reality, I was putting off starting cuz I was scared, what if I couldn’t do it? What if I failed?

Starting anything new is scary, but if you don't try, then you'll never know if you could have done it. It's exactly the same with health and fitness goals, sometimes we think "I'll never be able to change, this is just who I am"

But we have to ask ourselves is that actually true? Or is it just fear and self doubt telling us we can't do it?

Very chilled but wonderful week

My Niece and Nephew wanted a sleepover before going back to school, so we snuggled on the sofa with some blankets and popcorn to watch a movie. Had to try not to laugh when telling them off for still being awake at nearly 10pm playing what am I 😅

Got both workouts done this week and went for lot's of walks with Nuala too 🐾

And of course I also made time to relax, watched some gilmore girls, finished reading ACOTAR and started ACOMAF

Absolutely love that my Niece is into sylvanian families at the minute, I loved mine when I was a kid, don't know who was more excited to play with her new sets she had for her birthday, me or her 🤣

Hope you all had fantastic weeks too!

Just a little reminder

If you have social plans this weekend and eat a little more than usual, maybe have a few drinks, you don't need to earn it

And you certainly dont need to burn it off afterwards 💚

Why i don't use before and after photos

I know some people might find them motivational, but i never did. I'd be constantly comparing myself to transformation photos id see online

I even had an album in my phone for before and after photos, which basically just became an album full of before photos with no "after" photos 👀

And also, after what? Cuz health and fitness isn't something that has an end point, doing the things that keep us fit and healthy is a lifelong thing, not something we do for a few months and then stop

Since I stopped using weight and how I look as a measure of success, and started focusing more on how I actually feel, I've found it so much easier to be consistent with the behaviours that will help me achieve my goals

👉 I'd love to hear your thoughts on this
👉 Do you find before and after photos motivational?

I really didn't feel like doing my workout today, but I'm so glad I did!

We can wait so long to feel motivated, but motivation follows action, not the other way around

Showing up for yourself time and time again, even when you don't feel like it can feel hard at first, but it does get easier over time. Until eventually, you just become someone who does those things cuz its just who you are and it makes you feel good

What's one way you showed up for yourself this week, even if you didn't feel like it?

Is tracking calories disordered? That all depends on the person.

For some people it can be a great tool for fat loss, it can help to bring awareness to the foods they are eating, and help them reach their goals.

For others, it can leave them stuck in a cycle of being "on track" or "off track" and feeling guilty or ashamed if they go over their target.

I'm not against calorie tracking, I did it myself for years, but you do need to ask yourself if it is actually helpful, or is it just making your relationship with food more disordered.

Not allowing yourself to ever eat certain foods that you see as "bad" or that don't fit in to your target isn't a sustainable, or enjoyable, way to eat for the rest of your life.

If you have any questions about tracking, or want to know about other methods you can use instead, my DMs are always open and I'm always happy to chat 💚

Can journaling really help improve your food relationship?

I've recently started working with a coach myself, and one of the things I've been doing is daily journaling and reflection prompts.

It's really helped me to think about my food choices rather than reacting on autopilot and just doing the things I've always done out of habit.

Im not saying journaling alone will magically improve your relationship with food, but it can help you to start making more concious choices that align with your longterm goals.

I'd love to know, have you ever tried journaling? Did you find it helpful?
