I don’t think women are looking for more appointments.

I think they’re looking for more time.

More support.

More confidence.

More trust.

More space to ask questions.

More opportunities to feel heard.

That’s why I created The Nurture Continuity Package.

Relationship-based midwife support alongside your NHS maternity care.

Today is International Homebirth Day

A mother, in her own space, surrounded by people she loves, reaching down and bringing her baby up into her arms.

For some families, home is exactly where they feel safest, strongest and most themselves.

Today we’re celebrating the choice to birth at home, and the incredible families who welcome their babies there.

A woman said this to me recently.

She was 31 weeks pregnant.

And whilst it was a lovely compliment, it also made me a little sad.

Because women deserve time.

Time to ask questions.

Time to understand their options.

Time to make sense of information that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

This is exactly why my Continuity Package starts from booking, not birth.

Because some of the biggest decisions, worries and questions happen long before labour begins.

Sometimes women don’t need more information.

They just need the time and space to understand the information they already have.

If you’re looking for more time with a midwife throughout your pregnancy, my inbox is always open ❤️

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt over the years, it’s that difficult experiences and failure are not the same thing.

I know that when I sit with other women.

I can see their strength, their resilience and everything they have carried.

I’m still learning to see those things in myself too.

Maybe some of you will understand exactly what I mean. 🤍

Before anyone held this baby, his mother did.

For months she carried him, nourished him, protected him and grew him.

Long before there were tiny hats, newborn cuddles and birth announcements, there was a woman quietly doing the work of creating an entire human being.

I think we forget that sometimes.

We celebrate the baby, as we absolutely should, but I’m always in awe of the woman who grew them too.

Birth is incredible.

Women are incredible.

One of the most common things I hear when supporting women in labour is, “What should I do now?” or “Tell me what to do.”

As a student midwife, I used to feel really unhelpful when I replied with, “What is your body telling you to do?” I thought I should have the answer. I thought I should be able to tell women exactly what position to get into or exactly what they needed to do next.

The longer I’ve worked as a midwife, the more I’ve realised how powerful that question actually is.

Because when women stop and tune into themselves, they often already know.

They start moving differently. They sway, they lean, they change position, they focus on their breathing. Not because someone has told them to, but because their body is guiding them.

Charlotte did this beautifully in labour.

She wasn’t waiting for instructions. She was responding to what her body and baby were asking of her in that moment.

I don’t think that trust just appears when labour starts. It comes from spending time preparing. Understanding how birth works. Knowing your options. Building confidence in yourself and your ability to make decisions.

That’s why I created Nurture.

Not to tell women what to do in labour, but to help them understand birth well enough that they can trust themselves when the time comes.

If you’re pregnant and looking for support that goes beyond a birth plan and a hospital bag, I’d love to chat about how I can help.
