When one of my children is unkind to me. Speaks with a rude tone or says something hurtful, I don’t see that as my cue to more forcefully teach those lessons. I don’t see it as a sign that I need to make sure they understand how their behaviour has impacted me. I think 2 things:
1. Something is going on… I wonder if I can figure it out if I think and observe for a minute.
2. I need to treat my child with more kindness. If they are treating me this way, it means someone treated them this way, possibly me, even, so I need to model what kindness and grace looks like.

What thoughts and feelings happen for you, when your child is rude or mean to you?

How do those thoughts and feelings impact the way you respond?

Do you think your response is teaching kindness?

How did you learn to speak kindly to others?

When you think about someone who you feel almost always speaks with kindness, what are they like?

What do they sound like? What makes you feel like they are a kind person to talk to?

Ask yourself these reflection questions to understand your own perception, on a deeper level.

When we lead with unconditional love and acceptance, our children feel safer to process their natural feelings of remorse and communicate whatever may be going on underneath their behaviour.

We cannot shame them into being kinder. Just as we cannot love them into being meaner.

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who's signed up to my new group so far, all about regulating your nervous system and learning the tools that can help you calm anxiety and start to take control of your emotions, and life again.

Im soooo very grateful!!! So much so im celebrating with a cup of tea and a cinnamon bun (anyone who knows me knows how much I 🩷 a cinnamon bun😋)

Im so grateful that i get to share my knowledge and skills around nervous system regulation and how to break those patterns that keep us stuck..

I know how hard it is when you have been 'living' in survival mode ... how every day can be such a challenge, and the slightest little thing can make you feel like you just cant cope. I was looking after my mum, dealing with the education system, running a business and starting to go through peri menopause ... all at the same time ... (not too dissimilar to lots of womens lives) .... I was very teary ...I would wake up every morning at 4am with heart palpitations and feeling of dread for the day ahead ... I was snappy .very unhappy.. and prob not very nice to be around.

I thought there was something wrong with me ... why were other pll coping and I wasnt.... i hated feeling this way but I just didnt know how I could change things..... sound familiar??

Truth is I had almost disconnected from myself ... the body does that to keep us safe ... I was under immense pressure and felt like I was heading for a breakdown ...

Then one morning I was in the shower .... and I felt a little spark of fizzyness in my chest ... and then it was gone ... it felt familiar ... like something I once knew

That fizzines was JOY ... and at that moment I realised that I had not felt joy for such a long time .... its like it came to remind me that I couldnt carry on how I was .. carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.

From that moment I made some big changes ... I started to put myself first , i got into art and I really looked deep into subconscious and nervous system work.

IT CHANGED MY LIFE

And thats what I want to help you with.... the tools and techniques to help you cope again... to help you feel calm and to help you feel joy 🩷 or maybe uou just want to learn how to relax after the busyness of the day ...

Lets talk about that last nerve!

Have you been…

finding that people, situations… even little comments
just hit a nerve? Often your last nerve 🤭

Like it goes from 0 to 100 inside…
and you’re left thinking, “where did that even come from?”

Snappy. Overthinking.

Feeling pulled right into it before you’ve even had chance to think.

✨ This is something I see all the time.

And honestly… it makes sense.

Because your nervous system is simply just been doing its job…
