There is so much need… For support, and community, and care.
And there is so little money, and infrastructure, and accessibility. And sometimes the responsibility of addressing that feels quite overwhelming. Just little old me.
Please help raise funds to keep our service subsidised for those that need it. Emily McFarlane is running the Great North Run next weekend to raise funds for my service. Please donate if you feel you can. Every penny will go towards keeping this service going for the North East bereaved 💗💚
Link to the fundraiser in my bio. Every little helps. 🙏

My yurt is getting old and tired. 🙁
This little site is small but perfectly formed and I love it very much. Especially our resident robin, the fox and the odd squirrel🍃🍄🪾 I usually deliver support from here on Fridays and on occasional weekends.
I’ve supported 10 adults and 12 children around this fire since January. However I’m not confident that the yurt will survive another winter.
At present I use it to store my resources. Like a big canvas bohemian office. But it’s leaking and damp and that’s starting to impact my materials.
So what do I do? 🤷🏼‍♀️
I fundraise to subsidise the cost of therapy to my clients - but there’s nothing spare in the pot for repairs or for improvements to the site. Has anyone got a shelter they’d pass on? A summer house?? Another yurt? Maybe I need to get my manifesting on.. 🙏

“When someone you love dies, how long does the sadness last?”

I can’t give you the answer to that. But I can tell you that whilst your grief never leaves you, life around it grows until your sadness is no longer your whole world.

Another wonderful session this morning with a another wonderful, insightful and courageous child.

Mission accomplished. 🧡

With the help of the Stephen Carey Fund, we now have our very own portable De-Fib. Thank you so much for your support 🎉🙌🏼

Can’t tell you how much it means to me, the people I support, and my local community. I love it when a plan comes together.

Thank you for the help.
Thank you for the inspiration

Help me save a life. Help me buy a DE-FIBRILLATOR

Would you know what to do if someone needed emergency first aid? Do you know how to attempt resuscitation?

I often work alone when I’m delivering bereavement support outdoors. And I also often work ‘off-piste’ in areas with limited resources. It’s imperative that I carry on me the equipment I need to respond in a first aid emergency.

Following a recent training update (thank you Life Saving Training ), I’ve decided that I need to update my kit to include a portable de-fibrillator. It is literally the difference between life and death.

However, as I don’t have £600 to spare, I’m crowdfunding to raise the cash I need to buy this device. Any amount you might be able to contribute would be greatly appreciated. Please even consider shouting me the cost of a coffee to get me started on this campaign. Fingers crossed I’ll never need to use this device on you.

Iʼm raising money to Fund a Portable Defibrillator for Outdoor Therapy Safety with the community. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

I asked one of my young clients this week for some feedback. ‘What do you like best about coming here?’
‘You’ she said. ‘The thing I like best is you’.
Obviously I was absolutely choked 🥹💗💗💗
However, there’s also some science behind this… See, the thing is, research shows us that it’s not only the specific TYPE of therapy that influences its success…but also (and more so) the RELATIONSHIP a client has with their therapist.
The quality of your connection is absolutely paramount. Read all the books, do all the courses, gain all of the qualifications - but the number one tool you have in your therapeutic toolbox is YOU. And the way you choose to connect with others 💚

We know that being outdoors is healing on so many levels. But what if you can’t get outside?

How can you access the benefits of nature without leaving the house? Here are some simple ideas for doing just that:

1, Natural light. Open up your curtains or blinds. Sit by your window. Allow that daylight to pour into your eyes. It boosts serotonin and balances our circadian rhythm.

2, Nature sounds. Can you focus on the birdsong outside your window? Can you listen to forest sounds or rolling waves on an app? Nature sounds shift our autonomic nervous system from ‘fight or flight’ to ‘rest and digest’.

3, Plants. Do you have houseplants? They improve air quality and are known to improve mood and reduce fatigue. Can you smell the soil? A compound in soil directly interacts with our brain chemistry to impact mood.

4, Natural fibres. Consider using natural textiles inside your house to provide a tactile connection to the outdoors. Jute, h**p, wool, silk - all support a healthier indoor environment through biophilic design.

Knowing when to start therapy is crucial and very nuanced. Getting it right can mean the difference between a positive, productive, meaningful journey - and one which re traumatises or causes additional distress.

But knowing when to end is also absolutely critical. It’s important that our relationship benefits you. And it’s important that we recognise when you have gained the confidence and skills to continue your journey without me. It’s always the aim - despite how poignant it is to see you go.

I pride myself on my relationships with the people who choose to start therapy. They mean a LOT to me. And I love to be part of their journey. Saying goodbye is always hard. But it’s also very very important. 💗
