It’s real alright

Chemo brain is not just forgetfulness ~ and it's not "just age".

It's not just walking into a room and forgetting why you are there.

It's not just forgetting a word.

It's a sudden change in the way our brains function due to toxins and inflammation.... not just age.

We don't forget words, we forget conversations even happened.

We forget actual events we were apart of.

We read the same sentence 3 times and still can't process what it says.

We suddenly can't focus on tasks and things become overwhelming quickly.

This isn't a gradual thing that happens as we age, it happens overnight.
And some of us aren't even "aged" yet.

Sometimes we just need people to understand when we say our brains don't work like they used to.

Does chemo brain affect you? What is something you wish others understood?

DID YOU KNOW PTSD CAN HAPPEN AFTER CANCER?

Cancer doesn’t just affect your body. It can leave emotional scars too.

The diagnosis. The surgeries. The treatments. The needles. The scans. The waiting for results. The fear of hearing bad news.

Sometimes, even when treatment is over, your mind and body can still feel like they’re fighting for survival.

Cancer-related PTSD can show up as anxiety, nightmares, panic, intrusive memories, trouble sleeping, feeling constantly on edge, or intense fear around scans and appointments.

And no, you are NOT being dramatic.

What you went through was real. Your feelings are real. And you deserve support for the emotional wounds of cancer just as much as the physical ones.

We talk about beating cancer. We need to talk about healing from it, too.

If you’ve experienced this, you are not alone. ❤️
