Have been naughty in not practicing what I preach and now suffering the consequences. 🤦🏼‍♀️
The irony… A foot health practitioner with a dodgey foot 👣
Plantar fasciitis has been a real pain now for a few months. Ignoring it doesn’t work so am currently on a mission to heal it with home remedies before pushing the boat out and paying for some shockwave therapy.
Arch support shoes at all times. Rolling with a tennis ball and ice in the evening. Strapping the foot with sports tape. Massage, stretching and avoiding high impact exercise until it is better.

Unfortunately there is no one time treatment that fixes this injury. It’s a process and works best with consistency.

(The music is very mellow dramatic for what is a self inflicted- pain in the foot 😂 🤭)

I’m seeing a lot of dry, cracked feet at the moment which is normal this time of year. As the weather gets warmer and the sandals are dusted off, remember to moisturise those dehydrated heels. Consistency is key!

Working with patients living with dementia can be challenging but also rewarding. One lady today was so pleased with her foot treatment, could not be more complimentary of the service. Thanking me and saying how good her feet feel. 😊
10 minutes later whilst I was doing her friends feet the First Lady proceeded to tell her friend how she has never had her feet done and wouldn’t ever want to either. 😳
Then she tried to trip me over with her walking cane.🫣 (😂🤭).
I have to not take it personally, dementia is a cruel disease and empathy and kindness has to be at the forefront of any care field.

Hopefully her comfortable feet bring her some joy over the coming weeks.

Top tip! It sounds obvious but… drying between toes! Water trapped between tightly closed toes causes maceration of the skin which can be sore and possibly fungal infection. Floss them tootsies with your towel 🛁 👣

Top tip! Suffering with plantar fasciitis (like myself at the moment), an iced bottle of water to roll it on in the evening, stretching before standing will help with recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Aaaanddd back to work we go. Lovely to have a break but also nice to get some routine back. First job is to reply to messages, sterilise equipment and restock bag and make sure all admin is up to date. 😴 Look forward to seeing some regulars this week.

Top tip!
If you have ever had a corn then you will know how uncomfortable and sometimes painful they can be. I strongly advise to book a professional foot health appointment and steer clear of sacylic acid rings that are still sold. Have seen too many toes with maceration and even ulcers caused by the acid. A corn needs gently cutting out with a sterile blade and the pressure taken off the area. Not to be burned away with acid causing more damage to the surrounding healthy tissue.
Below is my trusted 15T blade which is my preference to use to enucleate corns. One time use from a sterile packet which is clipped on to a Swann Morton handle and then safely disposed of in my sharps box after use.

Colds and viruses still doing the rounds. Please let me know if you are poorly before your appointment so we can either reschedule or take proper precautions. Need to protect the many vulnerable patients I see. Many thanks 🤧
