I tried my first Kundadance session with the lovely this morning.

As someone who can sometimes struggle with nervous system regulation, this felt like a must-try for me, and I wasn't wrong!

So much fun, so energising, cleansing, and freeing. I left feeling lighter, calmer, and full of energy all at the same time.

Have you ever considered quinoa? 🌾

It's often thought of as a "healthy food", but what actually makes it different?

✨ Contains protein as well as carbohydrate
✨ Provides fibre to help keep you fuller for longer
✨ Rich in minerals such as magnesium and iron
✨ Naturally gluten-free
✨ Can support more stable energy levels when paired with protein and healthy fats

If you often find yourself reaching for a sandwich, pasta, or rice, quinoa can be a simple alternative to add some variety to your meals.

Try it:

🥗 In salads
🍲 Added to soups and stews
🥣 As a base for grain bowls
🍛 Instead of rice with curries and casseroles

Remember, no single food is a magic bullet for health. It's your overall pattern of eating that matters most. But small swaps can add up.

I’m so passionate about helping families understand that food isn’t just about growth — it can have such a powerful impact on behaviour, concentration, energy and emotional wellbeing too.

Anyone else feel like their child asks for a snack approximately 47 seconds after finishing one? 😅

I’m speaking to nursery parents this week and one of the topics we'll cover is why so many children seem constantly hungry — and one of the biggest reasons is that many modern “kids snacks” simply don’t keep little bodies full for very long.

A lot of packaged snacks are:
• very low in protein
• low in fibre
• quickly digested
• designed to be ultra-palatable (easy to keep eating!)

So although they may look like enough food, they often create a quick burst of energy followed by another dip… and another request for snacks.

Little children actually do need regular food — their bodies and brains are growing rapidly — but the type of snack matters.

More filling snacks tend to contain:
✨ protein
✨ healthy fats
✨ fibre
✨ foods that need chewing and digest more slowly

Think:
🫐 fruit with nut butter
🧀 cheese and crackers
🥚 boiled eggs
🍎 apple slices with yoghurt
🥒 veggie sticks and hummus
🍌 banana with peanut butter on toast

It’s not about perfection or never giving convenience foods. It’s about understanding why some snacks keep children going happily… while others seem to leave them searching the cupboards 20 minutes later.

Honestly, once parents understand this, snack time becomes SO much easier. 💛

My daughter starts her SATs today and whilst this is her first real dip into exam pressures, it’s still an important reminder of just how much food can influence the way we feel, focus and perform 💛

When children are tired, stressed or overwhelmed, nutrition won’t magically remove the pressure — but it can help support steadier energy, concentration, mood and resilience.

Perfection isn’t the goal but simple tweaks can make all the difference:-

A balanced breakfast.
Regular meals.
Enough water.
Protein and slow-release energy.
A snack that actually keeps them going.

These small things matter more than we sometimes realise.

Exam season can feel big for our children — and for us as parents too. So this is your reminder that supporting them doesn’t have to mean complicated meal plans or “superfoods”.

Simple, consistent nourishment goes a long way ✨
