When eating beforehand matters more
1️⃣ Session is over an hour (fair play, I get bored by then)
2️⃣ Day for chasing PBs
3️⃣ High intensity work, sprints, heavy lifting, CrossFit-style sessions - is it a cult?
4️⃣ Mixed training where you'll be pushed hard throughout

When it probably doesn't matter as much.
1️⃣ You had a big meal the night before
2️⃣ It's a gentle session under 45 minutes
3️⃣ You're not planning to push hard

One bad meal doesn't ruin the week. The spiral afterwards does.

Let's just say you get a bit loose on the sauce Friday after work.

If you draw a line in the sand and move on, it will have next to f**k all imapct on your results.

However, if you start with the whole 'I've already ruined it, I may as well do...X, Y, Z'

That's when the real problems start.

Isn’t it ironic. don’t you think.

Funny how the macho ‘I just eat meat’ community are actually the most sooky about food.

Imagine having a meltdown because you ate a vegetable or God forbid, something processed!

These Temu Andrew Tate ‘alphas’ even get offended by someone else choosing to drink soy milk or eat a bit of tofu.

‘Toughness’ in nutrition is eating the birthday cake, not crying about it.

It’s having a burger on Friday without needing a detox on Monday.

Food rigidity in any direction is fragility dressed up as discipline.

Much like the fella in the pub who had Chelsea trials but f**ked his knee, it's so easy to look back and think about where you were.

Comparing to back then is human nature, but it doesn't help.

I'm all up for tracking data, but sometimes it can be problematic.

It's easier said than done, but we do need to try and start a new chapter.

Why will this time be any different?

Tyler was stuck in the cycle of jumping from diet to diet.

But the issue wasn’t the diet, it’s that he didn’t have the tools to manage the situations that kept tripping him up.

Once we learnt to deal with these, the weight started shifting and he finally felt confident in his progress.

I’m not over here in my glass house.

99% of the stuff I help my clients with, I still do myself from time to time.

Now, this could just be me trying to justify my behaviour....

But I reckon it actually helps my coaching, as I can truly resonate with that frustration from smashing a whole tub of ice cream.

Or the guilt from having a full weekend on the chop.

So I can help you understand why you do the things you do, and have a plan for when it still happens.

That’s the difference between feeling guilty and actually changing.

"I'm cutting out all the bad stuff."

This approach works beautifully for about 4 days.

Then you’re tired, hungry, annoyed, and suddenly standing in the kitchen eating cereal from the box like a raccoon.

This is why I like starting with addition.

Not because restriction is never needed. But because most people make better choices when they’re actually feed and organised.

A balanced breakfast can reduce evening snacking.

A bit more protein and fibre can make the whole day feel less chaotic.

That’s the bit people miss.

You’re not trying to become someone who has perfect discipline around food.

You’re trying to build meals and routines that mean you don’t need quite so much discipline in the first place.

Some of us made a career out of dropping standards...

I'll leave that one with you.

But lowering the abr for what you deem as 'healthy eating' might actually help you get more consistent and make progress.

Everything on that list has one thing in common.

t makes getting healthy feel way harder than it needs to be.

I think most of you know the basics of were being honest.

And you don’t need pricks over complicating things and distracting from what really moves the needle.
