Hi to my neighbours in Wimbledon & Raynes Park 👋

I’m Ellis, a local physiotherapist and the founder of Bee Mobile Physiotherapy.

I provide physiotherapy at home across Wimbledon, Raynes Park and the surrounding area, particularly for people who might find getting to a clinic difficult.

Perhaps you've just had a hip replacement at Parkside Hospital, or a knee replacement at St Georges. Maybe you're worried about an elderly relative that has been falling recently.

Rather than travelling to a clinic, I come to you and we work on the things that actually matter at home, whether that’s getting up and down the stairs, walking outdoors again, rebuilding strength or simply feeling more confident getting around.

I’ve put together a page explaining a bit more about the home physiotherapy service I offer locally:

Always happy to answer any questions, even if you’re just trying to work out whether home physiotherapy might be appropriate for you or a relative.

Thanks!

Is home physiotherapy suitable for an elderly relative with dementia?

The answer is a resounding YES!

Dementia can affect much more than memory. Changes in balance, mobility, confidence and the ability to complete everyday activities can all increase the risk of falls and loss of independence.

I’ve put together a new guide explaining physiotherapy for people living with dementia, including:

• What dementia is and the common types
• Why dementia can increase the risk of falls
• How dementia can affect walking and mobility
• How physiotherapy can help maintain strength, balance and independence
• Practical ways families and carers can support someone at home

🏠 What is mobile physiotherapy?

A lot of people assume physiotherapy means travelling to a clinic - but for some people, being assessed and treated at home can actually be much more useful.

Mobile physiotherapy simply means a physiotherapist comes to you. It can be particularly helpful for:

• People recovering after a hospital stay or operation
• Older adults struggling with mobility, strength or confidence
• People who have recently fallen or are worried about falling
• Anyone who finds getting to a clinic difficult
• People who want to practise stairs, transfers and mobility in their own home

One of the biggest advantages is that assessment and rehabilitation take place in the environment you actually live in. That means exercises and advice can be tailored around your own stairs, furniture and day-to-day routine.

I’ve put together a guide explaining what mobile physiotherapy is, how home visits work, what can be treated and what to expect from a first appointment.

I’m a HCPC-registered physiotherapist providing home physiotherapy across Worcester Park, Epsom, Ewell, Cheam, Stoneleigh and surrounding areas.

Does your elderly parent keep falling and feeling dizzy?

If an older relative is experiencing both dizziness and falls, it’s worth investigating rather than assuming it’s simply part of ageing.

Feeling faint when standing, experiencing spinning when rolling over in bed, or simply feeling increasingly unsteady can all provide clues about what might be happening.

Our latest guide looks at blood pressure, medication, vertigo and BPPV, dehydration, balance problems and other possible causes - plus when to seek medical advice.

If you’re worried about your parent’s wider falls risk, you can also complete our free STEADI Falls Risk Self-Assessment on the Bee Mobile Physiotherapy website.

Could you tell if you - or an older relative might be at increased risk of falling?

Falls can sometimes seem to come out of nowhere, but there are often warning signs and risk factors that can be identified beforehand.

I’ve added a FREE falls risk self-assessment to the Bee Mobile Physiotherapy website, based on the validated STEADI falls screening tool.

It takes just a couple of minutes to complete and gives you an instant result.

If you have an older parent, relative or neighbour you’re a little worried about, you can also go through it with them.

“Why is my elderly parent falling?”

This is something I’m asked on a daily basis!

Falls in older adults are common, but they’re not always “just part of getting older.” There are often several contributing factors, and some can be improved.

I’ve put together a short guide explaining why an elderly parent might keep falling, what warning signs to look for, and when it may be worth getting professional help.
