I received an email (sent to many Gitananda Yoga folk, not just me) from Yogacharya Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani this morning

“Can yoga help the lungs of people with diabetes? 🫁

Hathenas, the Gitananda tradition’s fifteen breath-directing practices, were tested in a randomized trial of 72 diabetic patients with reduced lung function. After four months, the yoga group’s FEV1 rose from 1.79 to 2.34 L, with weight and BMI also falling. Preliminary, but promising.

The Acorn's Dilemma: Why Growth Often Looks Like Loss

About 9 years ago my life was coming apart, it was all a bit messy. On a walk one day, during that period, I took a picture of an acorn. It was so beautifully formed - the exact opposite of how life felt at the time. Yesterday, the memory came up on Facebook - the beauty of the acorn.

It's ironic that the memory came up this week because at a beautiful Su***de Grief Support CIC retreat only last weekend I was using my analogy of the acorn splitting open to create the magnificent oak - a reflection I often make with people when coaching.

To grow into something strong, resilient and magnificent, we must first crack open and let go of the form, the habits and the behaviours that once protected us.

The things we want most, greater confidence, less stress, better relationships, a new career direction, improved wellbeing, mean that we need to leave behind old habits, beliefs or ways of coping. It's uncomfortable and all feels a bit messy.

If you've been feeling uncomfortable, stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for a change but unsure how to move forward, perhaps it's time to ask yourself:

What oak tree is waiting inside my acorn?

Coaching provides a supportive space to explore what's holding you back, gain clarity about where you want to go, and take practical steps towards the life you want to create.

I’m teaching Gitananda Yoga in the mornings and offering NEPIP and Duopody Reflexology in the afternoons.

I’ve also brought my laptop so that I can fulfill a couple of coaching sessions.

But in between there’s some self care going on in Herefordshire this weekend at Su***de Grief Support CIC’s EMDR Grief Retreat.

The next retreat is in March next year (skiing) and I hope to be back here in Herefordshire next September.

Racing mind in the middle of the nigh?

Rather than struggling with cognitive willpower you can use Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping to regulate the physiological stress response. By stimulating specific acupressure points while acknowledging lingering worries, individuals can signal safety to the nervous system and break the nocturnal stress loop.
