It’s a huge day today for me….
Tonight will be my last shift as a nurse after 39 years and 4 months of service to our NHS. Im extremely proud to say that my business, Gentle Steps Foot Health will now be my focus, after building it up over the last 20 months. It’s been a crazy few years studying and wearing two professional hats, but a decision had to be made and here I am!
What a privilege it’s been to be a nurse. I often wonder how many people I’ve cared for, how many lives I’ve touched! I know that many of my patients have left their mark in my life, sometimes with joy of their recovery, sometimes with the absolute privilege of nursing them in their last hours of their lives… every moment special.
There have been some difficult times, a global pandemic being one of them!
The changes within those 39 years have been huge, but as a profession, we have adapted and continue to work miracles in very difficult times.
I have made life long friends, friends who have been beside me through some really tough times, and lots of happy times too, and continue to be there after many years and for that I am grateful, I love you all!
I will miss what has always been my constant, I will miss my amazing colleagues, the banter, camaraderie and everything that being a nurse is, but I know in my heart that my time is done.
My business needs my full commitment now, and how blessed am I to have lovely clients to continue caring for xx
