You've probably been hearing a lot about urea lately... but what actually is it? 👀🦶

Despite the name, urea is one of the most effective skincare ingredients for dry, rough skin and it's especially great for your feet.

✨ Here's why it's become such a popular ingredient:
• It helps attract and retain moisture, keeping skin hydrated.
• It gently breaks down hard, thickened skin, making it softer and smoother.
• It helps improve the skin's natural barrier, protecting against further dryness.

That's why you'll often find urea in products designed for dry, cracked heels and hardworking feet. The higher the percentage, the more intensive the treatment can be for stubborn areas.

If your feet are feeling dry, rough, or in need of some TLC, urea could be the ingredient they've been waiting for!💙

This lovely review landed today, and I have been asked to share it on my page.

I have just retired from a long career as a nurse, the last few years as a community nurse.
In my role as FHP, It is a blessing to still be able to care for people who just need that extra little bit of help/ expertise. I’m very blessed 💗💗👣👣

I recently contacted Gentle Steps Foot Health requesting a (first time) emergency appointment for my elderly father who is in the advanced stages of cancer which is complicated by type 2 diabetes. He had a problem with heel blisters and needed his toe nails cutting.
I was given an appointment and Lynne visited my parents home. She was really kind and provided fantastic advice and treatment for both my mum and dad. I would highly recommend Lynne and will look forward to seeing her again.
Fabulous service.

Another day of training today.

Today was all about exfoliation and warm paraffin wax application to enhance my client’s choice of treatment at Gentle Steps Foot Health.

As a professional, I will endeavour to continuously increase my knowledge and skills, to provide my clients with quality care, and of course, that feeling of being pampered and taken care of.

I thought it would be nice to share a positive story belonging to a lovely client, who has had problematic fungal nails for many years.

Heavy work boots and some nail trauma had resulted in damaged, thickened fungal nails, and she was reluctant to wear summer sandals and always hid her feet from view.

We tried all the topical treatments available over the counter, but nothing improved the nails and it became obvious that the fungal infection had affected the nail matrix ( where the nail is formed).

She received a 6 month course of anti fungal medication from her g p with regular monitoring and you can see for yourself the results.

A few before and after pics from a busy week at Gentle Steps.

Consent obtained to post images.

This client has had long standing fungal nail issues. She has kept her nails painted and hidden her feet away.

I noted that she had a telltale red planter aspect ( sole), with a dry itchy feel and sometimes peeling skin, indicative of a fungal skin infection, Tinea Pedis, commonly known as athletes foot. Fungal nail infection is usually secondary to a fungal skin infection, sometimes mistaken for eczema or dry skin. If left untreated it spreads easily to the nails.

I did a full foot health assessment, including neurovascular testing, and cut and filed the nails to a comfortable and manageable length.

Together we discussed a plan of action, and she has commenced a six month course of anti fungal oral treatment to eradicate the fungal infection.

We will continue to have regular foot care sessions, and hopefully she will see a massive improvement in the months ahead.

Today I have been learning!

It’s incredibly important to continually update my skills and knowledge, to offer my clients a wider range of services within my professional scope of practice.

My portfolio will soon be including Nail reconstruction, suitable for my clients who have damaged nails due to ongoing podiatric issues, including fungal nail infections and traumatic nail injury. This is the perfect addition to your foot care to dramatically improve the aesthetic appearance of your feet, especially in the summertime, or for that special occasion.

Also, in the very near future, I will be further expanding my portfolio to include a “MediPedi” pamper treatment. More details to follow 👣👣😊

I have been asked to share this lovely review that came in today from a new client and her husband.
Thank you so much, it is so rewarding to receive such positive feel back.

Just wanted to write a few words in recognition of the highly professional foot care my husband and I have had by Lynne at Gentle steps Foot Health. Outstanding service in a relaxed clinical environment. Lynne is highly qualified, utilising her many skills transferred from her long dedicated nursing experience and therefore is so knowledgeable, takes time to explain before any intervention/ treatment. Don’t waste time if you’re concerned about your nail or foot health as Lynne will be able to provide the high quality advice and treatment with an excellent personal approach to which you will benefit from. Highly recommend.
