Some fantastic work from a CFR based in Manchester!

This could be you! You could help save a life! By either donating a small amount of money to us, donating in your will, or volunteering for us as and joining our team of fantastic responders!! 🏥🚑🚑

Please message us if you wish to know more!!

Volunteer Community First Responders are a bit like the NHS’s rapid response neighbours. While the ambulance is making its way, they’re often the ones already at the door, kit in hand, getting stuck in and starting those vital early interventions that can quite literally mean the difference between life and death.

The thing is, once the ambulance crew arrives and the patient heads off to hospital, that’s usually where the story ends for them. No follow-up, no ending, just the next call and the next dash out the front door.

So when an update does arrive, it’s a pretty special moment.

One of the responders from Glossop & Hadfield Community First Responders, Grant (FR5009), received a letter through the post that absolutely made his day. It confirmed that the care he provided, alongside crews from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, didn’t just help in the moment… it helped save a life.

Even better, the patient went on to receive treatment in hospital and has since been discharged.

Community First Responders don’t volunteer for the praise. They do it because they care about their communities and they’re willing to drop what they’re doing to help a stranger on what might be the worst day of their life.

But every now and then, a letter lands on the doormat that reminds them exactly why they do it.

Absolutely brilliant work from everyone involved. 🚑👏

🚑 Community First Responders Making a Difference 💙

During the month of February, the Hoveton/Wroxham and Surrounding Villages Community First Responders (CFR) team proudly volunteered over 400 hours of our time to help keep our community safe.

Throughout the month, our volunteers were called to multiple medical incidents across our local area. On several occasions, we were able to arrive before an ambulance, allowing us to begin providing immediate, potentially life-saving care to people when they needed it most.

Every call we attend is only possible because of the dedication of our volunteer responders, who give up their time day and night to support their community. Whether it’s assisting someone with chest pain, responding to breathing difficulties, or helping stabilise a patient until ambulance crews arrive, our goal is always the same: to provide rapid care and reassurance when minutes matter most.

We’re incredibly proud of what our team achieved in February and grateful to be able to support the communities of Hoveton, Wroxham, and the surrounding villages.

💙 Thank you to everyone who continues to support us. Your encouragement means a lot to our volunteers.

If you’re interested in learning more about what we do, supporting the group, or even becoming a volunteer responder, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Together, we can continue to make a real difference in our community.

🌟 Heartfelt thanks to our incredible volunteers! 🌟

In January, the Wroxham, Hoveton & Surrounding Villages Community First Responders (CFR) Team donated around 400 hours of their precious time to support our local communities.

Our dedicated volunteers responded to a wide variety of medical emergencies — from assisting people with breathing difficulties to providing CPR interventions. Every call-out helps make a real difference in those critical moments.
We are entirely run by volunteers and funded solely through generous donations — we receive no government funding, so every contribution helps us stay equipped and ready to respond.

If you'd like to support our work, even a small donation of £1 (or any amount you can spare) would be hugely appreciated and goes directly back into keeping our kit up to date and our team trained.

💙 Fancy joining us and making a difference right here in our villages? We're always welcoming new members! No prior experience needed — full training is provided by the East of England Ambulance Service. If you're interested, just send us a direct message — we'd love to chat and tell you more!

Thank you for standing with us — your support means everything. Together we keep our community safer. ❤️

✨Why not make volunteering your New Year’s resolution! ✨

Start 2026 by making a real difference in your community. Our volunteers are ordinary people who do something extraordinary in their spare time – and you can too!

We have a range of roles to suit different interests and skills, these include:

✅ Community engagement group member – Help us improve services as one of our ‘critical friends’. They help identify ways of improving services and support with a range of activities.

✅ Community first responder – trained by us to attend certain types of emergency calls. They respond to potentially life threatening emergencies in the areas they live or work. They’re often first on the scene and administer life-saving care in the vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

✅ Welfare Wagon volunteer – trained to provide basic mental health and wellbeing support and signposting for our colleagues.

💚 Every role makes a huge impact. Every volunteer helps save lives.

💚 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers 💚

The Wroxham, Hoveton & Surrounding Villages Community First Responder (CFR) team are incredibly proud to share that our volunteers dedicated another 330 hours in December alone, supporting our community when it mattered most.

Throughout 2025, our team has given nearly over 4,500 volunteer hours, attending a large number of medical emergencies and providing vital early care to those in need.

This simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication, compassion, and commitment of our incredible volunteers.
