I've been making the most of a rare Saturday off to finish the latest pages on the website. I hope that there will be something of interest for you! This month read about an unusual silent book club something which appears to be very popular at Fiction and Fairy Lights, an independent book shop run by author Kim Nash in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, visit East Riddlesden Hall and have a go at growing your own vegetables. I hope you are more successful than I have been! In more serious chatter, find out how to be a good friend, appreciate that you cannot always fix problems and push through the fears of end of cancer surveillance - a tricky time to navigate. The weather is still hot here in North Yorkshire, so take time to rest, relax and just enjoy! Housework can wait. Wishing you all a wonderful summer :)

Well it is a scorcher here in North Yorkshire - not a statement I say very regularly! Far too hot to be doing anything but hiding in the shade and having a read (though I keep falling asleep.) If you are at your wits end, feeling unmotivated due to the intense heat, have a glance at my latest pages, just published now. This month, read about The Couple at No 9 and find out how their dream home is fast becoming a nightmare, make sure you keep putting your brain to good use and maybe knit a few hearts for the Heart to Heart campaign or your local hospital. There is a visit to the peaceful deserted village of Wharram Percy, my thoughts on showing people that you care and for those facing the tough journey to recovery from cancer, some advice on learning to love the new you. You can do it! During this heatwave, check on any elderly neighbours and make sure they are drinking enough, provide lots of shade and water for your pets and make sure to take care of yourself too. Till next month - have fun and as always, hugs to anyone in need of one :)

My apologies - I am late this month (or last month!) A delay due to going away on a holiday which turned out not to be quite what we expected! However, May pages are now available to view. This month: visit the beautiful Burton Agnes Hall, support your local baby bank, have faith in yourself that you are worth more than some people credit you for and find some advice about coping with hair loss during chemotherapy treatment. Do you love shopping or loathe it? Find out my thoughts on Rainbow Ramblings and read about a group of people on a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords - a cruise I went on recently (same ship!) but not a fjord in sight!! Hopefully there will be something there to catch your interest. In the meantime enjoy this sunny break, give yourselves time to breathe and enjoy life to the full!

What a gorgeous day it has been! I hope you have had a chance to enjoy some relaxation time. I've been busy completing the last of the new pages which have now been published and are ready to view. This month: take a visit to a weird and wacky place that will appeal to your inner child, make friends with the insects in your garden and make good use of the healing power of nature. Try to regain some patience by taking time out, enjoy a book about strong female friendships in rural historic America and imagine an umbrella when times are tough! Lots for you to ponder over and hopefully something of interest to keep you occupied whilst you are sunning yourself outside, or relaxing inside. Keep safe, be happy and sending hugs as always to those who need one :)

We know that fresh air and exercise is a great way to boost our mood but usin gyour body is also a great way to support your mind. Have a read and give them a go.

Spring is here! The village is full of daffodils, crocus and snowdrops and what a boost it gives to have lighter evenings on the way back. New pages have been added today. This month: read about the mysterious fairy bones found at the bottom of the garden, explore the Hawkstone Follies, recycle your unwanted shoes and worn out trainers and discover a companion book to help you negotiate life after cancer. There are also two bits of advice - do one thing every day that scares you (it is actually great for building self confidence) and start your day off well as this will benefit you for the rest of the day - two pieces of advice I am trying to follow myself. Wishing you all a fabulous Easter break. :)

New material has landed! I hope that you will find something of interest there. It's been a tough month here which is reflected in some of my pieces, but we are on the up again! Seeing the snowdrops and a glimpse of sun every now and again, really does make a difference. This month: consider if you are an overthinker or someone trying to do their best, understand that it is normal to feel low after major life events but that there is hope and try to be grateful for the small things in life. Visit the M&S archive in Leeds to learn more about the nation's favourite store, read a love story that begins with annoying childish messages and support your local library to keep this wonderful institution going. If you've been struggling this month be kind to yourself. Know that things will get better and lean on your friends and family to help you through. Sending hugs to everyone in need :)

A new month means a new calendar from Action for Happiness and this month they are focusing on Friendly February with lots of suggestions on how to build connections and friendships. This is because people with strong relationships are generally happier, healthier and live longer. Why not try out some of their ideas and remember that even the tiniest of connections can make a difference. Happy February everyone! :)

I'm back with new pages for you to enjoy! It's been a while since I last posted so I hope that there is enough here to keep you interested. This month I think about making realistic and achievable New Year resolutions that will guarantee success, recommend a book that makes you wonder what you would do if you got the chance to re live the previous year and visit the beautiful Bronte Parsonage in Haworth. There is a little dollop of positivity suggesting that each day is viewed as a new chapter in a book, a suggestion on how you can help children learn to read and some hopefully helpful advice on where you can turn to for help at the end of your cancer treatment. I hope that you are all avoiding this dreadful cold going round. Keep warm and hugs to all :)

Happy New Year to everyone reading this! I am well aware that a new year is not necessarily the happiest of times for some people, so if that is you, I hope that 2026 brings you peace, calm and contentment. Remember that you are not alone and reach out to those that you trust. They will help you. One of my favourite quotes at this time of year is 'Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.' Make plans for outings and holidays, meeting with people, trying new things and start the year on a positive and productive note. Action for Happiness has printed its latest monthly calendar and they too are encouraging you to begin the year with happiness. The world is a strange and often scary place at present and we can't change that, but what we can do is make a difference for ourselves and others through our own actions. As Action for Happiness states: January is the perfect time for a fresh start and a renewed sense of purpose.
