🤱🏻 Did you know that breastfeeding can save lives and boost health, for both babies and mothers?

*Breastfeeding benefits include:*

🔹 Provides all the nutrients a baby needs for the first 6 months.
🔹 Provides antibodies that protect the child against many illnesses like diarrhoea and pneumonia.
🔹 Reduces the risk of obesity and chronic diseases in children.
🔹 Reduces the risk of disease for the mother, including breast and ovarian cancer.

💡 Additionally, breastfed children perform better on intelligence tests.

🌍 Still, only 48% of babies under 6 months are exclusively breastfed.

*WHO recommends:*

✔ Start breastfeeding within the first hour after birth.
✔ Exclusively breastfeed for 6 months.
✔ Continue breastfeeding with complementary foods up to 2 years or beyond.

👶👶🏻👶🏾 Let’s make sure every child gets the best start in life.

🟡 287 million people were living with chronic hepatitis B or C in 2024, yet many don’t even know they’re infected.

💛 Even more worrying, 1.3 million people died from these diseases last year – despite the fact that hepatitis can often be prevented, treated, and in the case of hepatitis C, even cured.

🙌🏼 This *World Hepatitis Day (28 July)*, the message is simple: Let’s break it down. Barriers like stigma, lack of awareness and limited access to testing stop too many people from getting lifesaving care.

*Here’s what you can do:*

✅ Get tested for hepatitis B and C if you’re at risk or have never been tested.
👶 Make sure newborns receive the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth. In 2024, only 45% did.
🗣️ Learn the facts and help stop stigma by sharing accurate information.

💪 Together, we can turn proven science into action – and save millions of lives.

📱👧 *The digital world is shaping our children’s health every single day.*

💙 Technology can help children learn, create, connect and access health information. But how digital platforms are designed also matters.

Research links excessive digital exposure, especially among vulnerable young people, with increased risks of:

😟 Anxiety and depression
😴 Poor sleep
📉 Less physical activity
🤝 Fewer real-life social connections

🚨 Children may also be exposed to harmful content, misinformation, online exploitation and marketing of unhealthy products.

*What can families do?*

✅ Create screen-free moments, especially during meals and before bedtime.
✅ Encourage outdoor play, hobbies and time with family and friends.
✅ Talk openly about what children see and do online.
✅ Use age-appropriate safety and privacy settings.
✅ Remember: quality of screen time matters just as much as quantity.

❤️ The goal isn’t to eliminate technology—it’s to help children enjoy its benefits while growing up healthy, safe and connected both online and offline.

🎗️ *Cancer takes more than 26 000 lives every day.* But nearly 4 in 10 cancer cases are linked to preventable risk factors.

🌍 Today, 20.6 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year, and close to 10 million die. Without urgent action, annual cases could reach nearly 35 million by 2050.

*Prevention and early detection can make a difference:*

🚭 Avoid to***co
💉 Get recommended vaccines, including HPV and hepatitis B
🏃 Stay physically active and maintain a healthy weight
🍷 Avoid alcohol
🩺 Take part in recommended cancer screening and don’t ignore unusual changes in your body

Cancer also takes an emotional and financial toll: *more than half of people affected report mental health challenges, and at least 45% face financial hardship.*

❤️ Cancer is more than a diagnosis. It affects people, families and entire communities.

🙏🏼 Where you live or what you earn should never determine whether you survive cancer.
