Healing and growth don’t happen all at once. When everything feels heavy or overwhelming, remember that you don't need to have the whole journey figured out, you just need to take the very next small step.

Reshape your thoughts. Renew your mind. 💜

Sometimes, what we need is not to keep fighting our thoughts alone, but to have a safe space to talk, reflect, heal, and grow.

Therapy can help you understand your emotions, challenge unhealthy thought patterns, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges.

Your mental health matters. Seeking help is not weakness—it is a step toward healing.

Mental health matters every day. Be gentle with yourself and others because everyone is fighting battles you may never see. It's okay to ask for help, take a break, and prioritize your well-being. Healing takes time, but every small step forward is a sign of strength and hope.

Our recent Free Mind Project webinar, held in recognition of Men's Mental Health Month, created a safe space to discuss one important question: Do men cry?

I had the privilege of hosting this insightful conversation with our guest speaker, Michael Gyasi of CalMe Mental Health Group. Together, we explored the cultural expectations placed on men, especially in Ghana, and how these often discourage emotional expression and help seeking.

We discussed how cultural conditioning, fear of judgment, and the pressure to always be the provider can lead many men to suppress their emotions, resulting in isolation, unhealthy coping mechanisms, and untreated mental health challenges.

The session also highlighted practical ways to support men's mental well-being by creating safe spaces for open conversations, normalizing mental health discussions in our homes and communities, and encouraging professional support when needed.

A heartfelt thank you to Michael Gyasi Ohenebeng our speaker and to everyone who joined, shared their experiences, and asked thoughtful questions. Your openness made this conversation meaningful and impactful.

Let's continue to remind every man that strength is not the absence of emotion. True strength is having the courage to speak, seek help, and heal.

Men cry too and that's okay.

The world often measures a man by what he earns, but rarely pauses to ask what he carries in his heart.

Behind the responsibilities, expectations, and silent sacrifices are emotions, struggles, dreams, and battles that many never see. Men need support, understanding, and safe spaces too.

A man's worth is not only in his income, but also in his humanity.

It is very difficult living with a mental health condition. Not all days are the same. Some days come with overwhelming symptoms, racing thoughts, intense emotions, and battles that others may never see.

Please be kind. Please be patient. Please be gentle with us.

A little understanding, compassion, and support can make a world of difference.

I remember growing up, I had a very close male friend. He told me I was "coming of age" and that he wanted to stick around so that as I grew, love would grow too. 🤭

One day, he bought me a yam phone. At that age, having my own phone felt like a big deal! I proudly used it for about a week or two, enjoying every moment.

Then one morning, my parents asked me to return it to him.

I did.

As I handed the phone back, something happened that has stayed with me for years. He became emotional. I could see it all over his face. But before a tear could escape, he quickly said, "No, no, no... you can't see my tears!" 🤣

Ironically, I became emotional too.

A part of me wished he would just allow a single tear to fall. Not because I wanted him to be sad, but because I wanted to see that vulnerable side of him. Yet he held it back with every ounce of strength he had.

He was a man, yes.

But he was also human.

Years later, I still find myself asking: Why have we made it so difficult for men to cry? Why do we applaud them for being strong but make vulnerability seem like weakness?

Maybe the strongest thing a man can do is not to hide his emotions, but to express them without fear of judgment.

Men have feelings too. Men hurt too. Men cry too. And that's perfectly okay.
