THE WAY OF LOVE
(Love that Builds)
“Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
Philippians 2:2 NKJV
There is a kind of love that goes beyond the personal. Beyond how you treat the person next to you or the colleague who frustrates you. It is the love that looks at something bigger than itself and says, “I am committed to this. I will give myself to see this flourish”.
That is the love Paul is calling for in Philippians 2. He doesn’t just ask the church to get along. He asks them to be like-minded, of one accord, carrying the same love toward the same vision. It is a love that is corporate in nature but personal in responsibility. Everyone has a part to play. No one is a spectator.
When you truly love the Church, something happens inside of you. You stop seeing it as a place you attend and start seeing it as something you are invested in. You want to see it grow. You pray for it constantly. You speak about it intentionally. You show up consistently. Love for the vision changes your posture from consumer to contributor.
Agape love is the love God calls us to. It does not sit back and wait to be served. It looks at the vision God has placed before the church and asks, what can I do with what I have? Not what is convenient or comfortable, but what can I contribute? It gives what it has, serves where it is needed, and trusts God with the rest.
A church grows when the people in it love it enough to build it. Not just the leaders. Not just the volunteers. Every member. Because a vision carried only by a few will always be limited. But a vision owned by a loving, committed congregation becomes unstoppable.
You may not be able to do everything. But you can do something. And love will always find a way to contribute.
Prayer:
Lord, give me a love for Your house that goes beyond attendance. Let me see the vision You have placed before your church and find my place in it. Show me what I can contribute, and give me the grace to give it faithfully, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
