“ *The* *Red* *Slippers* ”
Ama was nine.
Every morning, she tied her red slippers, waved at her mother, and ran out to buy bread—just two streets away.
That morning, her mother watched her go and felt a strange ache in her chest.
“Be fast,” she said.
“I will,” Ama smiled.
Ama never came back.
By evening, the whole community was searching. By night, her mother was screaming her name until her voice broke. By morning, the truth arrived like a knife—another child, taken.
Another innocent life traded for money, power, or promises that never satisfy.
On the dusty path near the bush, only the red slippers were found.
In Ghana today, some parents are burying their children not because of sickness, not because of accidents—but because evil is hunting quietly. It doesn’t knock. It doesn’t shout. It smiles. It offers help. It pretends to know your child.
This is not a movie.
This is not a rumor.
This is happening.
Children are not “too young to be targeted.”
They are the most targeted.
If you are a parent, please listen:
Hold your children closer.
Know where they go.
Know who they talk to.
Don’t assume “it can’t happen here.”
It already has.
Let us stop normalizing silence.
Let us stop trusting blindly.
Let us protect our children like our lives depend on it—because they do.
Ama’s red slippers still lie somewhere, waiting for feet that will never return.
Please…
Watch your children.
Before another pair of slippers is left behind.
If it touches your heart and mirrors the reality, Pls share
for more. Padmore Patrick
