High cholesterol isn't just fat... it can block your heart silently! 😳❤️
My people, do you love fried chicken, fried rice, kelewele, red meat everyday, no exercise, just sitting and pressing phone? And you think say because you slim, you safe?
My dear, cholesterol can be building inside your blood vessels silently! You won't feel it until one day — chest pain, stroke, or heart attack! Many young people in Ghana now get heart attack because of this!
High cholesterol happens when too much fatty substance builds up in your blood. It blocks your arteries and stops blood from flowing well. If you don't check early, it can cause heart attack or stroke!
4 Key Things to Know:
1️⃣ What Causes It?
Eating too much fatty fried foods & red meat, lack of exercise & sitting too long, being overweight, family history, smoking & drinking alcohol, age 60+ & diabetes
2️⃣ Common Symptoms:
Often NO symptoms until dangerous!, chest pain or tightness sometimes, tiredness & shortness of breath when walking small, yellowish fat deposits around eyes, dizziness & headache in severe cases, found only through blood test — lipid profile
3️⃣ Why It's Dangerous?
Blocks arteries & reduces blood flow, can cause heart attack 💔, can cause stroke 🧠, can cause high blood pressure, can cause chest pain angina, can lead to sudden death if untreated
4️⃣ How To Manage It:
Go to clinic for lipid profile test — High LDL 190 mg/dL is too high!, take cholesterol drugs as prescribed if needed, eat more fruits vegetables oats & fish, exercise 30 mins daily brisk walking, stop smoking & reduce alcohol, lose weight & drink more water
Prevention Tips:
Eat less fried fatty foods 🍟 | Exercise daily 30 mins 🏃 | Eat more fruits vegetables fiber 🥦 | Avoid smoking alcohol 🚭 | Check cholesterol every 6 months 🩸 | Maintain healthy weight ⚖️
Don't wait for heart attack before you check! Lipid profile test is not expensive.
