New Blog Post: Last Christmas
Dear Friends,
Last Christmas day I flew across the country in my Christmas onesie pj’s with a bow attached to the front and my Santa hat to surprise my parents and my sister. As I sprinted across the Denver Airport sweating through said onesie pj’s, I wondered if I was going to get stuck in the Denver Airport on Christmas day, with only two full days + some extra planned for my trip, and with no more flights leaving for my sister's small town until a few days later.
Spoiler alert: I made my flight...although not without regret for the clothing choices of the now sweated-through Christmas onesie pj’s (and as an aside to note for the future, onesies are not great in airplane bathrooms).
The drama was all worth it for the look on my mom and dad’s faces when I walked into that room and yelled “surprise!”
We spent a long weekend together exploring my sister and brother-in-law’s adorable town, and at the end of the weekend we all piled into my sister’s minivan, went to the tiny airport, watched a beautiful sunset from the terminal, hugged goodbye and off I went, back across the country.
I’ve been thinking about that trip a lot lately. While I knew it had been a long time since I’d been able to have Christmas with my folks, I had no way of knowing that last Christmas would be my dad’s last Christmas on earth, and I am so very grateful that I got to spend that day and that weekend with him, sweaty pj’s and all.
My dear friend, I hope, as we move through life, that we find a little more time and space to spend time with and cherish the people we love.
Have an amazing week.
Love
Krista
