The Consortium has provided a platform for the public and private healthcare sectors to promulgate the development of eHR in Hong Kong riding on the rapid wave of its development in advanced economies worldwide. eHealth applications become more important in recent pandemics. The implementation of the territory-wide Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS) by the HKSAR Government in early 2016 was conducive to the enhancement of continuity of care and improvement in the quality of healthcare delivery to the citizens. In July 2017, the Government embarked on the Stage Two Development of eHRSS with the aim to bring further benefits to patients and the healthcare sector. Against this backdrop, the Asia Pacific eHealth Conference 2023 will provide a timely opportunity for national policy makers, professionals from healthcare and health informatics industries, as well as the ICT industry players from different parts of the world to share experiences and discuss the policy issues with the professionals and experts in Hong Kong. The Conference is co-organised by Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics, eHealth Consortium & HL7 Hong Kong and will be held at the Grand Hall (Phase III) of Hong Kong Science Park on 20-21 April 2023. This Conference aims to:
1. Promote the territory-wide patient-oriented eHR Sharing System in Hong Kong to enhance the continuity of care as well as better integration of different healthcare services for the benefits of individual patients.
2. Foster a better development in the technology for different healthcare IT systems to interoperate and interconnect through the eHR sharing infrastructure, so as to facilitate the deployment of eHR systems by private hospitals, private practitioners and other healthcare providers.
3. Help IT/Healthcare sector become more knowledgeable for advice, design, implementation and quality assurance of eHealth systems adopting various standards.
