We’re excited to announce the launch of Mind HK’s new, bilingual website at www.mind.org.hk. The website has been designed to provide a clear message of who we are, demonstrate our vision and mission, and educate the general public about mental health and services available in our city. Not only do we hope to get the word out about our organisation, but we also see our site as an organised platform of tools to help ensure no one in Hong Kong has to face a mental health problem alone.

Since launching last year, Mind HK has worked hard with non-profit and for-profit organisations, locally and internationally, to build its partnerships and strategy. We are eager to use this new platform to continue to share with you mental health resources, upcoming events, and trainings offerings. The site’s blog section is also a place for you, and the local community, to share stories on mental health, in order to help us in our mission to destigmatise it.

We’re beyond thrilled to share this new website with you. Over the summer, we will continue to do our research and develop our mental health services directory, destigmatisation talks, additional A-Z topics, training resources, and more. Pay us a visit and check out the new website here: www.mind.org.hk

As we mourn two icons who lost their lives to su***de, many are asking why? And how?

Su***de is a silent killer. Silent because of the cover stigma provides. Stigma is the reason those suffering suffer in silence, and those who are in a position to help, don’t reach out. If you are struggling with your mental health try to find a trusted ally - friend, family member, health care provider, crisis-line.

And for all of us, we need to actively inform ourselves on the dynamic nature of mental health and on how we can help anyone who we suspect is struggling.

In the words of the late Anthony Bourdain “It’s those little human moments that are the ones that stick with you forever, the random acts of kindness.”

If you think you may act on suicidal feelings, or you have seriously harmed yourself:

Phone 999 or go to your nearest A&E department.

If you are feeling extremely distressed or having suicidal thoughts:

- You can read about coping with suicidal feelings here:http://www.mind.org.hk/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Suicidal-Feelings.pdf
- Speak to a friend or family member, a medical or mental health professional
- If you need help, but it is not an emergency, you can make an appointment with your doctor or a mental health professional
- There are a number of helplines you can phone at any time to reach trained volunteers who want to help you to get the support you need.

24 hour helplines:

Su***de Prevention Service: 2382 0000
The Samaritans: 2896 0000
The Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong Hotline: 2389 2222
