Advanced Seating have been a long-term provider of healthcare seating to Mallow General Hospital. It was great to see the new extension officially opened this week by Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, TD.

The 24-bed extension now brings the hospital’s capacity from 71 to 95 beds and includes several Seating Matters chairs. The expansion will play a critical role in providing care for the people of North Cork. It also enhances flow from the hospitals in Cork and Kerry by accommodating patients to continue their care in Mallow General Hospital.

We’re delighted to be attending the Seating Matters Seating Masterclass alongside clinicians, therapists and healthcare professionals today for a day focused on learning, discussion and improving outcomes through clinical seating.

There’s a fantastic atmosphere in the room already, with so many valuable conversations around posture management, pressure care, mobility, comfort and the real-life impact seating can have on dignity and independence. 🙌

Events like these are such an important reminder that good seating is never just about the chair - it’s about supporting people to live more comfortably, safely and confidently every day.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re recognising how deeply physical comfort and emotional wellbeing are connected.

For many people living with reduced mobility, long-term conditions, or spending extended periods seated, the right support can make a life-changing difference - not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

At Advanced Seating, we see every day how appropriate seating can help restore:

When someone is positioned well and feels secure, they are more able to engage with family, participate in daily life, enjoy activities, and simply feel like themselves again.
