May is perhaps my favourite month. The warmer day, the longer evenings and the rising summer energy.

This May for me was about finding a balance between work, rest, play and joy. This is a constant in my life - striving to maintain the balance between work and play. And honestly I'm getting better at it - thanks to Ayurvedic daily and seasonal routines and the supports I've created both in my professional and private life.

1. Work and fun are always better with - 1st May evening chats celebrating a very special birthday girl!

2. Fairies and Bluebells in Kinnitty - I love spending time with my friends and their little one. Nothing like hanging out with kids to spark joy.

3. Full house for my Myo Yin and Facial massage workshop. I absolutely love this work.

4. Work - planning and creating. Exciting things are coming!

5. A restorative weekend of complete rest + fun with in Delphi Valley

6. Making the most of the sun and laughing till it hurts on Lough Derg with 2 out 3 siblings.

7. Exploring Inishbofin with my mum, hiking, swimming and enjoying the flowers.

8. Stunning Harry Clark stained glass on Inishmeain.

9. Walking, drinking in the view and fresh air and practicing a cupla focail on Inishmean.

Your fascia is the quietest part of your body, and the loudest when ignored.

On Saturday 20th June, I'm hosting a Myofascial Yoga Workshop at The Space Above in Birr, 11am to 1pm.

Myofascial Yoga works with the connective tissue that wraps every muscle, bone and organ. When that web gets sticky or dehydrated, you feel it as tightness, restricted movement, or that vague sense of holding tension you can't quite place.

We'll use a combination of yin yoga, therapy balls and slow, sustained pressure to soften those layers. Think less stretching, more listening, releasing and hydrating. Two hours dedicated to rest, recovery and helping your nervous system drop into a quieter gear.

You'll leave with techniques you can use at home on the days your body asks for ease rather than effort. Suitable for regular practitioners who want to understand their body in a new way. If you have been in class with me for the last 6 weeks you had a sneak peak into what this workshop will be about.

Mats can be booked at www.yoganessireland.ie.

I'm curious where you hold tension most? Tell me below, I'd love to know what we should focus on.

Did you know there are seven types of rest, and sleep is only one of them?

This weekend in Delphi Valley on retreat with , I experienced all seven.

Physical rest came on the mat, in slow somatic movements and long exhales and big yawns.

Mental rest arrived the moment my phone went into a drawer.

Sensory rest met me in the quiet of the woods, no notifications, no screens, just birdsong.

Emotional rest settled in the whirlpool bath, where nobody was performing.

Social rest came from being held by a beautiful group that asked nothing of me.

Creative rest poured in through the moss, the river, the soft Irish mist.

And spiritual rest, the deepest of them all, returned through breath, chant and stillness.

I came home from Delphi Valley genuinely rested. Not just sleep rested. All of me rested.

This is the real value of a yoga retreat. Not escape, but repair. At Yoganess Ireland we weave these seven rests together with Ayurvedic principles into all our retreats, so your nervous system actually shifts gear.

I believe this is why retreats matter. You step away to step more fully into life. You return not depleted by the holiday, but quietly restored by it.

We have various retreat options coming up this year and next.

Comment rest below and I'll send you the details.

When was the last time you stood under an open sky and actually exhaled? Not the shallow breath between meetings, drop offs and getting dinner ready. The full one. The kind that reminds your body it belongs to you.

This October, me, Yoganess Ireland and are bringing a small group to Andalucia for six days of yoga, hiking, and proper rest. We will move slowly through olive groves, walk to a turquoise lake tucked between the mountains, and practice yoga twice a day in spaces designed for nervous systems that have been running on empty for too long.

The retreat is built around Ayurvedic principles, which simply means we work with your body instead of pushing against it. Nourishing food, unhurried mornings, conversations that go deeper than small talk, and evenings where nobody is checking a phone.

If burnout has become your baseline, this is a transformational pause. A reminder that softness is not the opposite of strength.

October 27th to November 1st, 2026. Spaces are intentionally limited.

Curious what the days actually look like? Ask me anything below

It's recently coming to my attention that I'm really bad at letting people know what I have on offer.

A yoga client of 4+ years recently told me she had no idea I offered massage 😳

Another occasional client was shocked to hear we offer yoga holidays & retreats. 😅

In an attempt to rectify this I've put all my offerings together for you to share, save and book 😉

Thanks for your support x

What to expect from one of my yoga classes.

💚 Slow functional movement coupled with the invitation to feel into your unique body and move in a way that feels good for you. If you're looking for strict alignment, or to punish your body you are in the wrong place. My yoga is about learning to find comfort in our ever changing bodies and to offer them love and care. Yes, we move them and work them and sweat but not to punish them or change them but to love and accept them exactly as they are.

💜 Mindful meditation and breathing, with so much external noise and busyness one of the fastest most effective ways I've found to dull the incessant chatter is to follow my breath. It's a practice and we practice it together in every class.

💙 Relaxation (Shavasana) the whole purpose of yoga in my opinion. A chance to give ourselves permission to rest, to be still, to simply be without noise, music, chat but you, your breath and your body resting together on your mat.

🤍 Encouragement to find what feels good, to do as much or as little as you feel called to in any given moment. I use my voice and introspective questions to help you find where each pose feels in your body. I don't use my hands to adjust you as I believe my voice is enough to guide you and your body knows best.

💛 Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. You will always be welcomed with a smile and I encourage any questions, comments, complaints, suggestions or requests - your yoga class is yours. I value communication so I can ensure I provide you with just that, a class that meets you where you are. I don't use candles, incense, music (occasionally I do play music but never with lyrics and always just in the background) so there's nothing to distract you. We have so much external stimulus in our everyday life that I don't think we need anything extra in our classes.

If you've been to my classes I'd love to know what you think, did I miss anything? If you're curious to try a class with me I'd love to welcome you to a class. There's still plenty of space for this block, come for the whole block or drop in and see what you think. Everyone is welcome.

Delighted to have been able to celebrate getting older with the best people.

I've always believed in celebrating every birthday and truly believe getting old is a privilege. It was such a joy to celebrate with family and friends. We danced, laughed, saunaed, chatted and chatted, walked in the woods, chatted, laughed, ate cake and curry (thanks & & ). It was medicine for the soul.

In the run up to the Easter holiday, I'd been feeling pretty low - tired, run down, doubting myself etc, but after a lovely break and time with friends and family my energy is back and I am ready to embrace the next decade no matter what it brings. If you'd told me when I turned 30 that I'd be where I am now I'd never have believed you, so proud and grateful for what the last decade has been.

Here's to getting older!

While the Irish calendar says the Spring starts on February 1st, Ayurveda teaches of 6 seasons instead of 4, which to me makes more sense. While we can see the stirrings of life around us that come with Spring its still cold, wet and damp - late winter according to Ayurvedic teachings.

Late winter is the season of Kapha accumulation and Spring is the season of Kapha aggravation. Kapha (earth + water) is cold, damp and heavy.

Kapha in late winter feels physically like increased congestion, sluggish digestion, weight gain, joint stiffness, and cold/damp accumulation in the body.
And mentally feel lethargic, low motivation, depression, and a "stuck" or heavy, dull feeling in the mind.

When Spring comes and the thaw/melt arrives with warmer days we can experience runny noses, sneezing, sinus pressure and other seasonal discomforts.

To help prevent too much Kapha building up now we can embrace all things warm, light, and dry. Warm foods and spices such as ginger, cinnamon, black pepper. Movement, saunas and we can begin to plan ahead to Spring - mid march to mid may, plan a spring cleanse (DM for more information) or join our Spring Wellness day .

I'd love to know what you think? Do you modify your routines depending on the season? Do you feel the Kapha energy now? Let's chat in the comments.
