I hope you are enjoying the long evenings as we approach the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, this Sunday June 21st🌞.
In Irish, the Summer Solstice is known as Grianstad an tSamhraidh, meaning "the sun stop of summer." It occurs at a single moment each year—this year at 09:24am, which happens to fit nicely with our practice time 😊—when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted at its maximum towards the sun.
I love to mark this time of year as an opportunity to reflect on the first half of the year and welcome the second half, as the days gradually begin to shorten once again.
To celebrate the Summer Solstice and begin the longest day of the year, I am planning a Sunday morning beach yoga practice in Maharees, followed by an optional sauna, sea dip, treats and fresh ginger, orange and lemon homemade tea. The forecast is currently looking beautiful, so let's hope it stays that way! 🙏🌞
We will begin with a morning meditation, followed by energising Sun Salutations and a gentle morning flow, before bringing balance to the practice with some blissful Yin poses to finish.
🧘 Yoga: 9:00–10:00am (10€)
🔥 Optional Sauna: 10:30–11:00am BrandonbaySauna
Followed by sea dip, herbal tea and treats and chats afterwards. (25€)
Please let me know if you would like to join for yoga and/or stay for the sauna afterwards.
Thank you 🙏💛
