“Are you putting my bones back into place?” 🤔
This is one of the biggest myths I hear about spinal manipulation.
Let’s clear it up 👇
❌ Myth:
Spinal manipulation works by “shoving bones back into place.”
✅ Reality:
The benefits mainly come from neurophysiological effects — not bones moving back into position.
What’s actually happening?
When a joint is moved quickly and precisely during spinal manipulation:
🧠 Mechanoreceptors (movement sensors in your joints) are stimulated
⚡ This sends signals to your nervous system
💪 Muscles around the area relax
🛑 Pain signals can be reduced
🔄 Movement often feels easier immediately after
That “click” you hear?
It’s gas being released from the joint, not bones shifting back into place. Also, the "click" noise is not necessary for a successful manipulation.
Why this matters 👇
Understanding the real mechanism helps you:
✔️ Make informed decisions
✔️ Avoid unnecessary fear
✔️ Combine manipulation with strength training for long-term results — not just short-term relief
Because here’s the truth:
👉 Spinal manipulation can reduce pain — but strength training keeps it away.
If you’re struggling with back pain, neck stiffness, sciatica or just feeling “locked up,” this evidence-based approach can give you fast, lasting relief.
