“Why is my baby crying?!” 😩

If you’ve ever found yourself asking this at 2am while holding your newborn, you are definitely not alone. 🤍

Newborn crying can be one of the hardest parts of those early weeks — especially when you’ve fed them, changed them, burped them and cuddled them… and they’re STILL crying.

And when you’re exhausted, recovering from birth and trying to figure out this whole motherhood thing, it can be so easy to wonder:

Am I doing something wrong?
Does my baby need something I’m missing?
Why can’t I settle them?

The truth is, babies cry for lots of different reasons, and learning to understand their cues can take time.

I’ve written a new blog to help you understand why newborns cry, what you can try to settle your baby, when you should seek help, and what to do when the crying feels like too much (which is ok to admit!).

If you're a new or expectant mum in Wicklow or Dublin and you're feeling overwhelmed by those early days, you don't have to figure it all out alone.

Newborns do some seriously strange things… 😂🤍

And when you're a new parent, it can be very easy to see something unusual and immediately think:

“Is that normal?”
“Should I be worried?”
“Why is my baby doing that?!”

🤍 Hiccups.
🤍 Rolling eyes.
🤍 Funny facial expressions.
🤍 Little grunts and noises.
🤍 Jerky movements.

The good news is that many of these things are completely normal parts of being a newborn. 🤍

But knowing what is normal, and knowing when something does need checking, can give you so much reassurance in those first weeks.

That's exactly what we'll talk about in my Bringing Baby Home Class. 🏠

I'll help you understand what to expect, what's normal, what's worth keeping an eye on and when to seek medical advice, so you don't have to spend every evening Googling every little thing your newborn does!

And because questions often come once you're actually home with your baby, your booking also includes a 15-minute call with me during your baby's first two weeks. 🤍

If you're expecting a baby and want to feel calmer, more prepared and more confident for those first weeks, I'd love to support you.

Welcome to parenthood, where baby p**p suddenly becomes a VERY important part of your life. 😂💩

Before having a baby, you probably never imagined you'd spend quite so much time thinking about:

💩 The colour of the p**p
💩 The smell of the p**p
💩 The consistency of the p**p
💩 How often your baby is p**ping
💩 And, perhaps most importantly… the complete absence of p**p!

But when you're caring for a newborn, your baby's nappies can actually give you some really useful information about how they're doing.

So knowing what's normal, what's expected as your baby's p**p changes in those first days, and when something might need checking can give you so much reassurance.

And yes… we're talking ALL about it in my Bringing Baby Home Class! 🤍

We'll cover newborn nappies, what to expect from those first poos, wet nappy output, feeding, newborn sleep and behaviour, everyday newborn care and how to recognise when your baby may be unwell.

You'll leave with practical knowledge and reassurance, plus resources you can come back to once your baby is actually home.

And because I know you'll have questions once you're in the thick of newborn life, your booking also includes a 15-minute call with me during your baby's first two weeks. 🤍

Partners, this class is for you too. 🤍

When baby comes home, you’re not on the sidelines.

You’re an active parent, supporting your baby, supporting your partner, and learning how to navigate those first few weeks together.

And sometimes, Mum can be so full of emotions, exhaustion and new information that it’s hard to remember everything she heard before baby arrived.

That’s where having you there is so essential.

Imagine her saying, “Is this normal?”

And you being able to say:

“Emma talked about this in the Bringing Baby Home class. It’s normal. We know what to expect.”

That reassurance can mean SO much when you’re both tired and figuring things out.

My Bringing Baby Home class is designed to give both of you the knowledge and confidence to care for your newborn, together.

You’re not just preparing for a baby.

You’re preparing to become parents. 🤍

Mums, tag your other half or send this if you feel this is the support you would love when you bring your baby home.

“You will always learn something!” 🤍

Who says newborn education is only for first-time mums?

Sophie joined my Bringing Baby Home Class as a second-time mum and found it so helpful to refresh her knowledge, learn something new and have a safe space to ask questions and share her worries.

You don't have to be a first-time mum to want a little extra support and preparation.

My Bringing Baby Home Class covers the practical things you need to know when caring for a newborn — from feeding and sleep to bathing, nappy changing, soothing, safe sleep and more.

Whether this is your first baby or your third, every baby is different and there is always something new to learn. 🤍

If you're expecting a baby and want to feel more prepared and confident bringing them home, I'd love to support you.

Book into my next Bringing Baby Home Class on 27th August via the link in my bio.

Most antenatal classes spend around 10 minutes talking about what happens once you actually bring your baby home.

But that’s a BIG transition and there’s so much you want to feel confident about.

That’s why I created Bringing Baby Home: a 60–90 minute class focused entirely on those first days and weeks at home with your newborn. 🤍

We’ll talk about:
✨ How to know if your baby is unwell
✨ What to expect with nappies
✨ How to know feeding is going well
✨ What’s normal in those early days (and what isn’t)
✨ The little things that can leave you wondering, “Is this normal?!”

My goal is that you leave feeling calm, informed and confident about caring for your baby once you’re home.

And because I know questions often come once you’re actually holding your newborn, the class also includes a 15-minute follow-up phone call with me once your baby is home, so you can ask those questions that come up in real life.

You don’t need to feel like you’re just figuring it all out as you go. 🤍

Bringing Baby Home is designed to help you feel ready for those first days.

Bringing your baby home is exciting… but it can also feel like a BIG transition. 🤍

That’s why I created my Bringing Baby Home Class — a mini support package designed to help you feel more prepared and confident for those first weeks with your newborn.

This isn’t just a one-hour newborn class. When you book, you’ll receive:

👶 A live, practical newborn care class with me
🎥 The class recording to rewatch when you’re actually home with your baby
📖 A newborn eBook to use as a reference in those early weeks
🤍 A postpartum eBook because caring for you matters too
🇮🇪 My Pregnancy Guide to Ireland to help you navigate the Irish maternity system
📞 A 15-minute call with me once your baby is home for those questions that only seem to appear once you’re actually in the thick of newborn life!

The aim? To help you feel calmer, more prepared and more confident caring for your newborn — without feeling like you need to know everything before your baby arrives.

And an added bonus: the class may be reimbursable through your private health insurance, depending on your policy. So it’s worth checking your cover. 🤍
