And if youโve ever found Yin Yoga difficultโฆ this might be why.
Iโm often asked about Yin, and more often than not itโs about how ๐๐๐๐
it can feel.
Weโre so conditioned to keep doing more, pushing more, the more capable we are, the more we feel we ๐๐๐๐๐๐
do.
But in Yin, we do the opposite.
Weโre not trying to push deeper or do more.
Weโre learning to feel and to allow space; in the body, the mind, and the nervous system.
Physically, we create space in the joints and connective tissue through stillness and time.
Mentally, space can feel uncomfortable at first, because without constant movement or distraction, the mind often gets louder before it settles down.
Emotionally, space gives things room to move.
Sometimes thatโs ease and sometimes itโs something weโve been holding onto.
And energetically, this is where the shift happens from constant doing โ into rest, repair, and regulation.
And for many of us (if not most), this is the hardest part.
Weโre so used to filling every space, with movement, noise, and more doing that without it, we can feel tense in our bodies, our thoughts, and our energy.
Yin Yoga invites something different.
Weโre not looking for more effort or achievement, weโre looking for awareness and permission (from ourselves) to do less.
Because in order to show up in the world in the best way we can, we need to come from a place of capacity.
Hereโs my ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐, you donโt have to love it, and you donโt have to do it perfectly.
Most days, I donโt do either.
Just start by making a little spaceโฆ for you.
