Ms Carroll MacNeill commended Limerick hospital, which she said is “performing really well”.
“They’re discharging 100 people a day despite very increased attendances. While they do have challenges on trolleys, it’s not for the same reasons as Cork and Galway where attendances haven’t increased to the same rate,” she said.

While patients are lying on trolleys, sitting or lying across chairs, sitting or lying on floors in the Emergency Department at there is silence and lack of condemnation from our political representatives.
High numbers last week, continuing today Tuesday 4th, 130 patients recorded IN by Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation - INMO

HSE Ireland CEO sent a top level delegation from but our political representatives with access to local and social media have remained silent.

We have been contacted by a number of people raising concerns about the most recent statement from HSE Mid West
(Link to article below)

In the statement, are HSE Midwest suggesting that people should not be attending for conditions that could be treated elsewhere?
Are people being asked to self diagnose?
That seems to be the consensus from people who have contacted us. They find the inference deeply insulting to patients who are already suffering.

Nobody chooses to spend hours or days, lying on a trolley, sitting in a chair or lying or sitting on a hospital floor.
People attend UHL when they are sick. For many in Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary they have nowhere else to turn or have no other choice.

Large areas of the Mid West have little or no access to GP services

Many GP practices are unable to take new patients

Injury Units close at 8pm

When illness or injury occur outside those hours, what exactly are people expected to do? Where should they go?

Shifting responsibility onto patients is deflecting from the real issues which are the chronic lack of primary care services, GP shortages and years of underinvestment that have left overwhelmed.

Patients are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 the problem.
They are the victims of a health service that has failed to provide timely, accessible care in and for their own communities.
We have listened to 'experts', management, politicians, speak to
us, at us, for too long.

Another day, another emergency visit from HSE Ireland..

𝗬𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁

There was yet another surge of 100+ patients on trolleys, chairs, patients sitting and lying on the floor etc in last week.

⚠️ We have been informed that on Friday (31st) 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗢'𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗘𝗢 HSE Ireland sent an emergency delegation of HSE officials from Dublin to to try and address the 'crisis'. Their visit was described to us as urgent and unannounced.
The visit has been corroborated by a contributor on the The Clare Echo post on this page, who attended on Wednesday and Friday.

⚠️𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗺 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗿𝘆, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 and 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 were part of the delegation of the senior HSE Ireland officials who travelled to Limerick.

Colm Henry, along with other senior HSE colleagues, has made many, many urgent, announced and unannounced visits to over the past number of years. He is well aware of the difficulties. Despite all the promises made and pledges given to the people of Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary here we are again.

⚠️ It is our understanding that the current management at were very surprised by the visit and were upset they had not been informed in advance. They were given no opportunity to 'hide' patients or move them elsewhere as has been the practice over the past few years with announced or leaked visits.

Unacceptable and intolerable…

🛑 The headline on The Clare Echo page makes grim reading not only for the people of Clare but also for the population of the wider Mid West.
