Silicone degrades over time due to constant exposure to earwax, body heat, and skin oils. Failing to change them can lead to several issues:Stretching and slipping: The silicone becomes loose and can detach, risking getting stuck inside your ear canal.

Material breakdown: The dome may become stiff, discoloured, or brittle. Acoustic feedback: A worn-out dome alters the seal in your ear, causing high-pitched whistling or muffled sound.

While some wires and speakers can last 3 to 5 years with meticulous care, frequent exposure to debris or sharp bending can cause them to fail much sooner. Most hearing aids stop working if the receiver is faulty, hearing clinics should be able to replace receivers for you, it is a 5 minute job unless they don’t have it in stock. Do check with us if we can not assist change your receivers for you.
