Foxglove Sound and Yoga

Foxglove Sound and Yoga After over 25 years as a primary teacher, I am no longer working full time in this role. The course focused on ashtanga, yin yoga and yoga nidra.

Offering:
Individual Sound Treatments, Group Sound Baths, Yoga classes for Children and Adults, Retreats, Holiday Camps for Children
Find: SUAIMHNEAS- contentment, tranquility, calm, ease, peace After a life changing couple of years with long covid I have changed direction, and now am focused on well being and healing. Witnessing first hand all the issues and stress children now have in school, I

initially began training in play therapy with the aim of addressing mental health issues and other difficulties. I have a certificate in therapeutic play skills and completed trauma informed training within the course. After practising yoga for many years and finding it to be the most beneficial practice to me during my years with long covid, I did a 200 hour teacher training course with Ríonach yoga in Delgany, to deepen my study of yoga. I'm continuously learning about yoga, listening to podcasts and audiobooks and reading as well as practising daily. I've done teachers' summer courses over the years in teaching yoga and mindfulness to children and also a month long training in teaching mindfulness to children. During long covid I began practising the Wim Hof method. I practise the breathing technique every morning and have cold showers and/or hop into the nearest river, lake or sea regularly for a dip. I believe breath is our superpower and am interested in the health benefits and the science behind breathwork and pranayama. I am a registered sound practitioner with the SHAI, having completed levels 1-3 in sound therapy. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of sound with others in one to one sessions or group sound baths. Music has always been the strongest force in my life, and has sustained me during difficult times. As a musician and music lover, sound healing makes sense for me as I'm already attuned to the emotional and physical power of sound. My sound healing instruments are incorporated into yoga classes for adults and children. Foxglove Sound and Yoga is in a quiet, peaceful location on the Carlow/Wicklow border. On two acres, there is a mature garden, wildlife pond, a wildlife meadow and a plantation of over 450 young native Irish trees with peaceful walkways. During school holiday camps, children are immersed in nature, away from technology and enjoy nature based art, crafts, yoga, play and music. Retreats for adults offer hatha yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, sound baths, immersion in nature, hikes in the local Wicklow mountains, walks to sacred sites, wholesome, organic, vegetarian food and drinks and live tradititonal Irish music sessions. The aim of Foxglove is to offer "suaimhneas", meaning peace, tranquility, stillness, calmness and ease. Isn't it time to prioritise your own well being?

Delighted to welcome you to Yin and Tonic on Saturday morning 26th September

We'll start with a gentle yin yoga class suitable for beginners or all levels.
Yin yoga involves less poses, held for a longer time, and helps us practice stillness of mind and body. Yin yoga is all based on the floor, and targets the fascia of the body with wonderful energetic benefits.

Then, relax further with a sound bath, where healing sounds of gongs, handpan, singing bowls, shruti box, drum, chimes and more wash over and through you. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, simply be.

Option to stay on for a cuppa and chat with like minded people at the end. Homemade herbal teas and flapjacks provided.

All welcome to wander the peaceful grounds of Foxglove before the yoga or at the end, with garden, orchard, wildlife pond and meadow planted with almost 500 native trees. Take your time to connect with nature and peace.

Bookings open now for September's sound bath at Foxglove. Friday September 25th 7.30- 9

To coincide with the Autumn equinox, we'll settle in with a yoga nidra practice with the theme of balance and harmony. Yoga nidra is a guided meditation similar to a body scan, including setting a 'sankalpa' or positive intention. We'll invite abundance in all forms to celebrate the Harvest Full Moon.

Then, simply lie back and let the vibrations of sound healing instruments wash over you, letting the sound go where it needs to go.

Stay on for a chat over a cuppa and flapjack at the end or leave in silence to keep a sense of calm.
Book early to secure your spot.

August's sound bath, coinciding with the full moon and lunar eclipse. Great to be back after a long, hot summer. Grateful to be sold out and have a waiting list. Next sound bath is Friday 25th September, also lining up with a full moon. On Saturday 26th September come along to Yin and Tonic at Foxglove, a gentle yin yoga class followed by a healing sound bath. Book your places to avoid disappointment.

I go to Boleycarrigeen Stone Circle often and love bringing friends and visitors there. It's a magical, special, beautiful place, full of mystery regarding what rituals took place here, and awe at how all stone circles are aligned with the solstices.

I wish people wouldn't leave stuff there. We grew up here with the code of 'take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints'. This evening it was lots of oats, hazelnuts and some grain which of course my dog kept trying to eat. Not good for any of the wild animals or birds who live there either.

Why not enjoy the place, contemplate, connect with ancestors and leave it untouched with respect? The stone circles are known to have been kept clean, not containing buried stuff, only the entrances used for coming and going. We don't know what, if any, "sacrifices" were made there.

Just how I feel, no doubt some will disagree!

Taking bookings now for the next group sound bath on Friday August 28th. All participants in the August sound bath receive €10 off an individual sound healing treatment. 💜

All you do is get comfortable lying down and you'll be guided through some breathwork and yoga nidra- a meditation like a guided body scan to settle. Then drift off to the healing sounds of the instruments. It's like meditation through sound, and you don't need to do anything.

A cuppa and homemade flapjacks are available at the end. Chat with like minded folks or head away quietly, as you like.

All welcome to experience the magic of sound! 🎶
