NoeleenTyrrell Yoga Hi, I’m Noeleen, a certified Anusara Yoga teacher, trainer, therapist, and coach.

🌟 Don't miss out on my upcoming events! tinyurl.com/noeleentyrrell

I’m honoured to be the founder of Ard Nahoo Yoga School in Ireland, where I’m devoted to yoga education and supporting the growth of my students. With over 30 years of experience in yoga and natural health, I’ve been fortunate to train in the US, UK, Europe, and Ireland. I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist with IAYT and also hold certifications in massage and craniosacral therapy. My teaching style is

intuitive, helping students experience meaningful transformations and health benefits. I’ve had the privilege of training many wonderful yoga teachers and, as a coach, I aim to assist others in finding their own paths and wisdom. My journey with yoga began in Rush, Co. Dublin, but it was in San Francisco that I truly fell in love with the practice. Yoga has been a grounding force for me, aiding in various life challenges like back problems, home births, and managing a busy clinic and studio. I initially practised Iyengar Yoga, but discovering Anusara Yoga in 2010 was a turning point that profoundly shaped my practice and teaching. I’m deeply grateful to all my teachers and continue to learn and grow. In 2001, I founded Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat in County Leitrim, which received global recognition as one of the top retreats. In 2022, I decided to move on from the eco retreat, and now Ard Nahoo Yoga School travels with me, offering retreats, workshops, and trainings both locally and internationally.

One of the questions I often ask at the end of retreat is:

"What was the best part?"

People rarely answer with a particular yoga pose, workshop or excursion.

More often, they speak about the people.

The conversations over meals.

The laughter.

The friendships that form so naturally when we spend a few days practicing, learning and living together.

In yoga we call this Kula — community.

It's one of the most important aspects of retreat for me and something I value deeply.

As one retreat participant shared:

"The best part was the Kula/Community. From day one it was clear that the Kula was of central importance to Noeleen."

Over the years, I've watched strangers become friends and friendships continue long after everyone has returned home.

For many people, it's the most unexpected gift of retreat.

We spend so much of our lives caring for other people.

Meeting deadlines.

Supporting family.

Keeping things running.

Responding to what needs our attention next.

And while all of those things matter, there comes a point where we need to ask:

**Who is looking after you?**

For me, one of the greatest gifts of retreat is the opportunity to step out of the usual rhythm of life for a few days and remember what it feels like to be nourished.

To move your body.

To breathe deeply.

To spend time in nature.

To laugh.

To rest.

To reconnect with yourself and what matters most.

Not as an escape from life.

But as a way of returning to it with greater clarity, energy and joy.

A lot of people are asking me whether it's worth joining a retreat.

It's a fair question.

After all, a retreat asks for your time, your energy and a financial investment.

For me, the value isn't simply in spending a few days away or attending a few yoga classes.

It's in creating the space to step back and pay attention to your wellbeing.

To notice how you're feeling.

To reconnect with what nourishes you.

To remember that your health, energy and peace of mind deserve your attention too.

One of the things I've learned over the years is that wellbeing rarely comes from complicated solutions.

More often, it comes from simple things practiced consistently.

Moving your body.

Breathing well.

Spending time in nature.

Eating nourishing food.

Laughing with good people.

Resting deeply.

Making space to reflect.

Retreat creates the conditions for all of this.

Not as an escape from life, but as a way of returning to it feeling more grounded, more energised and more connected to what really matters.

For me, that's what makes retreat worthwhile.

As I get older, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that wellbeing is less about finding the perfect solution and more about creating the right conditions.

A little space.

A little movement.

Time in nature.

Good food.

Meaningful conversations.

Practices that help us stay steady, resilient and connected to ourselves.

These are some of the things we'll be exploring together at the Wild & Wise Retreat in Girona this October.

Not because they're complicated.

But because they matter.

The older I get, the more I appreciate simple things done well.

A walk in nature.

A nourishing meal.

A yoga practice.

A good conversation with people whose company I enjoy.

Perhaps that's wisdom.

Or perhaps it's simply paying attention to what truly nourishes us.

✨ There are now only 4 places remaining.

Over five days we'll explore yoga, meditation, pranayama, philosophy and practical tools to help us stay healthy, resilient and engaged with life.

Noeleen Tyrrell

" I work with yoga practitioners and yoga teachers who are looking for clarity, confidence and coherence in their practice - and for people who want to stay strong, healthy and engaged in their bodies as they age.

Whether someone is new to yoga, has been practicing for years or has been teaching for years, the underlying need is often the same: to feel more confident in their skins, to stop second-guessing themselves, to be clearer in their understanding and less dependent on being told what to do. This work is empowering!

I began working as a therapist in 1992 and have been teaching since 2000.
My work brings together clear movement education, anatomy, yoga philosophy and a lived relationship with nature as the source of resilience, wisdom and healing.

I practice and teach from a non-dual trantric perspective where the body is not something to fix or transcend, but a living expression of the same intelligence that moves through the natural world.

This relationship - with body, breath, land and life is at the heart of all my work.

I am particularly known for my work with yoga teachers both those who have trained with me and others.

Many come to me having completed trainings and yet still feel unsure - unclear about alignment, anatomy, philosophy, sequening or how to teach with real authority.
The issue is rarely a lack of certificates. it's a lack of clarity, confidence and trust in their own understanding.
My role as teacher and coach is to bring structure, language and discernment to what often feels fragmented, so that teachers - and students - leave more capable, grounded and self-directed in their practice.

Across classes, workshops, retreats, immersions and advanced trainings, my aim is consistent - to help people become capable of practicing independently, of making informed choices and capable of seeing themselves and the world through a lens that recognises that the source of strength, insight, belonging and healing comes from within. One of the most important discoveries meditation offers is surprisingly simple.

You are not your thoughts.

That doesn't mean thoughts are bad.

Or that meditation is about stopping them.

Thoughts are part of being human.

The mind thinks.

That's what it does.

The problem is that most of us become completely identified with whatever the mind happens to be saying.

A worry appears and we become the worry.

A judgement appears and we become the judgement.

A story appears and we become the story.

Meditation invites us to notice something different.

Thoughts can be observed.

Emotions can be observed.

Sensations can be observed.

And if they can be observed, who is doing the observing?

This is where yoga begins to explore the distinction between awareness and Awareness.

The thoughts come and go.

The emotions come and go.

Life changes.

Yet something remains present throughout it all.

Something quietly aware.

Something that has been with you your whole life.

Meditation is not about becoming blank.

It is about recognising what remains when we stop believing every thought that passes through the mind.

I'm curious, how does this land for you?

Last weekend I finished teaching Awakening the Heart – Meditation Teacher Training.

What a lovely group of people.

We had teachers joining from Ireland, the UK, Scotland, Greece and the United States. Different backgrounds, different experiences, but all sharing a genuine curiosity about meditation and a desire to deepen their practice and to share the practice in general yoga classes.

One of the greatest joys of teaching is watching people discover that meditation doesn't have to be complicated.

You don't need a perfectly quiet mind.

You don't need to stop your thoughts.

Meditation begins exactly where you are and regardless of your judgement, each meditation is worthy!

The more I practice, the more I realise that awareness is always present and accessible even when we are busy with the tasks of life. Thoughts come and go. Emotions come and go. Life unfolds around us. Yet something deeper remains steady throughout it all. This is your Awareness.

Over a cup of tea this morning, I was reading the latest newsletter from Ta**ra Illuminated. It inspired this simple meditation, which I'd love to share with you.

Being aware of Awareness:

Set an intention to keep your awareness tuned in as you move through your day. When you feel yourself getting pulled in and under by thoughts, stress and all the 'to do's' of life, zoom out, create a little distance so that you can watch your thoughts, become an observer even as you engage with the world.

Not forcing it or over concentrating, just lightly noticing.

As you do, see if your awareness begins to widen and soften.

Notice that you can be aware of your thoughts without being caught up in them.

Aware of the conversation you're having.

Aware of the birds singing outside.

Aware of the breath moving in and out.

Life doesn't stop. The mind doesn't stop.

But the experience becomes more whole, a little more spacious, a little less rushed.

For me, that's one of the great gifts of meditation.

Not escaping life but being more fully present for it. Give it a go, let me know how you get on.
