Infertility is a grief that often goes unseen.
People see the smiles, the strength, the carrying on as normal. They don't see the tears after another negative test, the anxiety before appointments, or the heartbreak of watching others get what you long for most.
Please don't judge someone for being quiet, withdrawn, bitter, or finding certain conversations difficult. When you've opened your heart to hope time and time again only to face disappointment, protecting yourself becomes a way of coping.
To anyone walking the infertility journey: your feelings are valid. The sadness, anger, jealousy, hope, fear, and exhaustion can all exist together. Be gentle with yourself. You are carrying far more than most people can see. 🤍

It's taken 14 years for the change to take place.

PCOS has been renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) after a global push to improve diagnosis and treatment of the condition.

In Ireland, as many as one in five women have PMOS.

Experts have welcomed the move, saying the new name better reflects how the condition can affect not only the reproductive system, but also metabolism, diabetes risk and cardiovascular disease.

The new name was revealed in The Lancet medical journal, and will be fully implemented in 2028.
