Life Lessons from a Butterfly.
If you want more valuables, first create more value in the world.
As they say, spend time chasing butterflies and they simply fly away.
Better instead to w**d and tend to your garden, build a beautiful garden and then the butterflies will surely come.
Lasting change is always an inside job.

Fractal patterns of leaves on full display earlier.

Have you ever noticed how pleasing patterns in nature can be ?
This is largely because of the health boosting benefits of looking at fractals.
These are the complex and irregular geometric patterns that repeat at different scales (called self similarity).

Open your eyes in nature and you can experience engaging fractal patterns all around you. Look at the unfurling petals of a flower, the leaves of a plant and the division of a tree into its ever smaller branches. Notice how the pattern of the branches remains the same no matter what scale you observe it from.
Furthermore, the retina in the eye appears to have a search pattern to rapidly recognise and resonate with fractal patterns, enabling the brain to make rapid decisions from an array of sensory data and stimulation.
The brain appears to be hardwired to seek out and be visually fluent in these fractal patterns of nature, finding them inherently pleasing, naturally destressing and powerfully restorative. This is one of the key reasons why scenes of nature can provide such a sense of restorative recharge from stress, relaxing you while boosting wellbeing.

‘Komorebi’ on view this evening : a term that describes seeing dappled light through the leaves of the trees – a beautiful Japanese feature of forest therapy.
Pronounced ko-mo-reh-bee, it is the experience of not just seeing the dappled light with your eyes but sensing it more fully and completely.
There is no direct translation for this word in English.
However in Japan, even the weather forecast might mention the ‘komorebi !

Have you seen komorebi’ lately ?

Something to think about :

Your mind is preprogrammed to relax when you see or are near the ocean, sea or river.

This is called ‘blue mind’ where your stress response lowers, blood pressure and heart rate drop, breathing slows and you feel more calm and relaxed.
This blue mind effect may perhaps have an evolutionary basis whereby being able to view water signified safety and survival.
Research published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, in 2022 found that simply looking at water for under two minutes reliably lowered blood pressure and heart rate compared with viewing streetscapes or trees.
It can be a great way to recharge from stress and boost feelings of inner stillness.
A healthier heart & happier heart too ♥️

Can you make some time for ‘blue mind’ this week?
