Plant of the month: Stipa tenuissima
Common Name; pony tail grass or Mexican father grass
This is one of the finest textured of all grasses. It has very fine, thread-like green foliage ending in straw-colored, narrow seed heads. Extremely delicate and soft in appearance. It will provide motion to a landscape in even the slightest breeze. Stunning against rocks and bold-textured neighbours. It loves the sun and is wonderful for introducing a light feathery effect. Like most Stipa grasses, it doesnt like to sit wet over winter.

Flowers: May, June, July
Position: Full sun, partial shade
Height: 15 - 25 cm (0.5 - 0.8 ft)

Commonly called candytuft, it is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the cabbage family (Brassicaceae). Evergreen Candytuft is a spring blooming favourite, often seen cascading over rocks and walls, or used as a groundcover. The glossy, evergreen foliage forms a billowing mound, with loads of good-sized white flowers for several weeks. Prune lightly right after blooming, but otherwise leave plants alone in fall and early spring. Drought tolerant, once established.
