Very honored and privileged to collaborate for the last 10 years with Prof. Baron- Cohen and support the prenatal theories of autism.
All the proof that autism starts before birth and determined earlier by genetics and early fetal brain pathways provide further evidence that all vaccines theories are bogus

Sir Simon Baron-Cohen has spent his career trying to understand autism from the inside out.

The Cambridge University professor and director of the Autism Research Centre just received the 2026 Grawemeyer Award in Psychology — widely considered the most prestigious prize in the field, and one of the closest equivalents to a Nobel Prize for psychological research.

The award recognises his prenatal s*x steroid theory of autism — the idea that elevated testosterone levels in the womb influence brain development in ways associated with autism. His work has reshaped how researchers understand the biology behind autistic traits and opened new avenues for early identification.

Baron-Cohen has also been one of the leading voices arguing for a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to autism — pushing back against deficit-only frameworks and advocating for autistic people’s right to be understood on their own terms.

The prize has previously recognised some of the most influential work in psychological science.

The INSAR 2026 Annual Meeting- nowadays it felt like a small miracle to be there—together with 98 Israeli colleagues, contributing 199 abstracts. The scale and quality of work coming from Israel, even under ongoing challenges, is amazing.

I was honored to participate as the Global Senior Representative for Israel, and to stand alongside colleagues who continue to advance science, clinical care and collaboration despite difficult circumstances.

The meeting itself reflected where the field is heading. Strong emphasis on precision medicine approaches in autism, deeper characterization of early traits, and a growing focus on lifelong trajectories—moving beyond childhood into adulthood and aging. There is clearer attention to phenotypes, including the distinction and needs of individuals with profound autism. Important work is also emerging around comorbidities and the impact of trauma.

Our minor contribution were studies on minimally speaking autism led by Dr. G*t Savaldi- Harussi , early traits at 9 months (PHD candidate Kol and Prof. Lerner Liat MD PhD ), autism and ADHD Overlap (@ Dr. Meirav Shaham, Einat Yaari and @ Dr. Michal Deloya ) and epilepsy in autism and ADHD with emphasis on s*x differences ( Zamir MD student)

Equally meaningful were the conversations—reconnecting with long-standing collaborators and meeting new colleagues from across the world. These interactions remain the backbone of the conference.

A particularly valuable perspective came from past presidents of INSAR, reflecting on the past 25 years while outlining the priorities for the next 25. The field has matured significantly, but the work ahead is just as substantial.

Grateful to be part of this community, and committed to continuing the work forward.

Autism Awareness Month – A View from Israel:
As a Global Senior Leader representative of INSAR for Israel, I feel a responsibility to highlight our reality. For all of us war is deeply disruptive and frightening and even more for children and families with autism or any disability. Changes in routine, a central challenge in autism, become constant. Familiar structures disappear. Therapeutic continuity is interrupted. The sudden, unpredictable sound of alarms is not just distressing; it can be overwhelming to the point of panic. The repeated need to run to shelters, or to stop the car and run, leaves little time for processing, explanation or emotional regulation. Many children cannot fully comprehend the nature of the danger, yet they absorb the fear, the urgency, and the distress of those around them.
For families, the burden is immense. Parents must simultaneously manage safety, emotional containment, and their child’s unique sensory and communication needs under extreme conditions. The cumulative stress is profound.
At the same time, clinicians and researchers continue their work under these circumstances. Clinical care does not stop and it is even more urgent. Research does not pause. We adapt—conducting assessments between alarms, maintaining therapeutic frameworks in unstable environments, and striving to preserve continuity of care. All of this while managing the same fears for our own families, the same uncertainty and the same constant interruptions.
This is the reality behind autism care in times of conflict.
Autism Awareness Month is not only about understanding autism, it is about recognizing context. It is about acknowledging that vulnerability is amplified in crisis. Resilience in these settings, demands extraordinary effort from families and professionals alike. This is ongoing for the last two and a half years (with 3 years of Corona beforehand) and much worse for the last 6 weeks.
Our commitment remains unchanged: to support, to treat, to study and to advocate. Under all conditions and it is our responsibility to reflect the imminent danger, the impairment of function and the huge concern about the short and long term impact of this extreme situation.
