A diagnosis gives us a starting point.
It does not make the entire decision.
Two people may both have severe arterial disease affecting the leg. Yet their anatomy, overall health, operative risk, availability of a suitable vein, mobility, recovery priorities and long-term goals may be very different.
For one patient, surgical bypass may offer the most appropriate balance of durability and risk.
For another, an endovascular approach may achieve the clinical objective with a lower procedural burden and faster recovery.
And in still another patient, the appropriate strategy may involve medical therapy, surveillance or a different combination altogether.

The point is that the same diagnosis does not automatically deserve the same treatment.
Good clinical decision-making asks:
What disease are we treating?
What options are technically appropriate?
