Pyogenic granuloma on the gums (often called a "pregnancy tumor" when hormone-related): a soft, bright red to purple bump that grows quickly, bleeds easily with brushing or minor contact, and usually sits on the gumline near the teeth.
Common triggers: pregnancy hormones, poor oral hygiene, local irritation (plaque, calculus, ill-fitting dental work), or minor trauma.
Treatment: excision is standard, often with removal of the irritating source (cleaning, scaling) to reduce recurrence. Pregnancy-related ones sometimes shrink after delivery but often still need removal if persistent or bothersome.
