It's an initiative which aspires for artistic goals and projects. The idea is to have theatre, musicals, short films, graphic novels and photographic exhibitions on personal, psychological and social issues that people are feeling and are sensitive towards. It's a completely independent of any school or trust. It's purely a young body of students who use this space as a platform to express themsel
ves in multiple ways. The mentor’s role here is to guide support and so sometimes direct these projects. It becomes a training ground for students to have pre professional work that builds their portfolio for their professional life if they were to be interested in an artistic professional career. Even if they were not seeking to be full-fledged artist the idea behind AAG is to keep the spirit of imagination alive and to build values around team building that supports both the individual and the collective. The idea is to create a young community that does not compete but is contemplative and aware and develops concentration skills along with imagination. The role of emotions play an important role in fashioning artistic products .emotions in the Indian aesthetics is roughly understood as rasa and the movements towards rasa is rasayana. The idea is to learn how to process intensity moods and emotional sensitivity into creative outlets. Today mediocrity of systems and high sensitivity creates strange contradictions that creates various double binds. The arts provide a way out and the idea is to create a space of ownership and belonging. Trust is the adhesive that binds groups and communities’ together .so even there is the fire of imagination the other elements when they trust fire...it will become a glow in the darkness burning on a floating water in the middle of a lake. A beam of light for others to follow the light in the darkness and despair. The idea is to train young people in mind body and spirit to be aware of their role and their unfolding nature. This would have a summer programme and a small winter programme. It would also cater to small projects if the individuals are interested dotted around a year.
