The idea was conceived 15 years ago when the words “Indian and Proud” were tucked compactly into the enormous moustache of a turbaned Indian farmer. Then suddenly, the thaw set in and a slew of ideas and designs followed. Some ended up being representative of India, some not so much, but all were imaginative and fairly cool. The belief and the vision with which this project sets forth is that Indi
a is great. No need to list out reasons. It is what one chooses to acknowledge and believe. There can be an equally long list of reasons as to why it is not that great either. Then there will be those who might wonder whether there is anything to be proud about. But that is not the point. A country is the sum total of its citizens. If there is nothing to be proud about in a country, then the fault lies with the citizen, both individually and collectively. Pride, if dead, has to be resurrected; if non-existent has to be planted. By no stretch of imagination do we claim that this simple project sets out to achieve this, but it is one small step in that direction. One definitive and irrevocable step.
