Delhi's Drugs Control Department has busted a fake rabies vaccine racket. A raid in Delhi turned up 481 units of counterfeit anti-rabies vaccine, sold under the brand name Abhayrab and worth about Rs 2 lakh. The genuine manufacturer confirmed this batch was never issued by them, and the supply has been traced to a firm in Kanpur. The case is under investigation.

Rabies has no cure once symptoms begin, and it is almost always fatal. That's why the vaccine given after a dog or animal bite has to be genuine and given without delay. A fake vaccine can leave a person completely unprotected without them ever knowing it.

Always see the vial and check the batch number and manufacturer name before getting a rabies vaccine injected.

Hundreds of patients in the US have filed lawsuits against Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, claiming that Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound and similar drugs caused sudden vision loss. The condition involved is called NAION, a rare loss of blood flow to the optic nerve that has no treatment and is often permanent.

The link is not yet proven. One recent study found a small increased risk in people with type 2 diabetes, but it did not show that the drugs actually cause NAION. Both companies say their medicines are safe and are contesting the lawsuits.

This isn't a reason to panic if you're on these medicines. It is a reason to know the warning signs, sudden blurring or loss of vision in one eye needs an eye specialist right away. If you notice any vision change while on a GLP-1 drug, don't wait , get it checked immediately.

Three newborns, including a five-day-old baby, died after air-conditioners exploded due to a short circuit at the Special Newborn Care Unit of RIMS Hospital, Adilabad. Toxic smoke filled the ward, and around 27 infants had to be rescued and shifted to other hospitals. An investigation has been ordered.

Newborns in intensive care have extremely delicate lungs, and even brief smoke exposure can be life threatening. This tragedy is a reminder that critical care units need working fire safety systems and a clear evacuation plan at all times.

A video from a private school in Khatima, Uttarakhand has gone viral. Staff bandaged a child's eyes with red cloth and told other students that doctors had removed his eyes because he used his mobile phone too much. Several children were seen crying and screaming, and authorities have now ordered an inquiry.

No procedure like this happened. It was staged to scare children away from mobile phones. But frightening children with a false medical story is not a safe way to teach anything, and it can leave a child anxious or afraid of doctors and hospitals.

Excess screen time in children is a real concern, and it can affect sleep, eyesight and attention. But the right way to address it is calm, honest conversation and clear limits at home, not fear.

If your child has seen this video or heard about it, reassure them that it isn't true and that doctors help people, they don't hurt them.

These local quacks usually give a steroid or an antibiotic and the fever drops instantly and the patient thinks something amazing has just happened.

Steroids suppress fever without treating the actual infection. The symptom of the fever disappears but the infection comes back later, and sometimes affects organs that it wasn't supposed to act on. The antibiotics aren't harmless either that are casually handed out for viral fevers and colds. This is driving antibiotic resistance and steroid toxicity across thousands of people.

These people are just giving the bacteria in people's bodies a free training session.

Karnataka's drug authorities have cancelled 16 drug licences and suspended 8 others, in Bengaluru, after a raid uncovered a fake medicine racket.

Officials found cheap medicines being refilled into vials and relabelled as expensive branded drugs. The QR codes on these fake labels did not scan, which is often the easiest way to catch a fake. Licence are canceled.

Spurious drugs may contain the wrong dose, no active ingredient at all, or something harmful, and they can put your health at real risk.

Always buy medicines from a licensed pharmacy and ask for a proper bill. Check that the packaging looks right, and scan the QR code if the strip or box has one. If anything looks off, don't use it, and report it.

FSSAI has started legal action against Nestlé India over three infant nutrition products: NAN Excella Pro Stage 1, Lactogen Pro 1 and a follow-up formula.

For NAN Excella Pro and Lactogen Pro, the issue is online promotional claims like "5 HMOs" and "easy to digest", which are restricted for infant foods. For the follow-up formula, FSSAI says the biotin (vitamin B7) level fell short of the requirement in two lab tests. This is a legal process and no final decision has been made.

If your baby is on formula, don't panic or stop feeding. Check with your paediatrician before switching brands, and always mix formula exactly as the pack says.

Breast milk is still the best food for the first 6 months when it is possible. Formula is a safe option when breastfeeding isn't.

This week she spoke before US lawmakers and asked who is responsible when a chatbot gives dangerous health advice. The case is still in court.

Alcohol, Xanax (a benzodiazepine) and kratom (which acts on opioid receptors) all slow down the brain and breathing. If taken together, they can cause breathing to slow or stop,leading to death.

A chatbot has no idea about your body, your medicines or what else you have taken today. For anything about drugs, doses or mixing medicines, ask a doctor or pharmacist. Don't rely on chatbot.

The Union Health Ministry has proposed an amendment to the Drugs Rules, 1945, requiring CCTV surveillance wherever prescription medicines under Schedule H, H1 and X are sold. These include psychotropic drugs and other medicines with higher potential for misuse.

As per the draft notification dated 8th September 2026, footage will need to be stored for a minimum of three months. The rule will apply to retail pharmacies and will not cover wholesale dealers.

The aim is to create a verifiable record of who is buying these medicines and to prevent unauthorised sale of prescription drugs without proper documentation. This is meant to add a layer of accountability at the pharmacy counter, not to inconvenience genuine patients.

This is still a draft proposal, not a final rule yet. The government has invited objections and suggestions from the public and stakeholders before it is finalised, and chemist associations have already raised concerns about implementation costs for smaller pharmacies.

This is what happens when anger is normalised as discipline. Studies show nearly two out of every three children in India face physical abuse, often from parents or caregivers.

A father, teaching his daughter at home, lost his temper when she struggled to write. He beat her so badly that she lost consciousness and later died. He then told his wife that the child had fallen down the stairs. The truth came out only when the mother saw the bruises and went to the police.
In India, child abuse is far more common than we like to admit.

Government and NGO data show that a large number of children face physical or emotional abuse at home, often from people they trust the most. Most cases are never reported. They are normalised as “discipline”, “strict parenting”, or “for the child’s own good”.

A 4-year-old is still learning how to hold a pencil. Expecting perfection, pushing academic milestones too early, and responding with violence is not education, it is abuse.
We need to talk about and raise awareness on these things:
▪️Parental mental health and anger management
▪️Unrealistic academic pressure on very young children
▪️Normalising asking for help before frustration turns into violence
▪️Teaching that discipline never means physical harm

Parents and caregivers should be counselled on how to discipline children properly, while always keeping the child’s mental and physical well-being in mind. Discipline should never be driven by anger or frustration, and it should never cause fear or harm.
Children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and understood.
