The Young Leaders for Arts and Health Ireland Summit takes place in Dublin on September 4–5, 2026,a vibrant 2‑day international gathering celebrating youth‑led creativity, innovation, and the power of the arts to shape public health across Ireland and the world.

Expect an inspiring programme featuring research and poster presentations, exhibitions, performances, expert policy panels, hands‑on workshops, cross‑cultural exchanges, and dynamic plenary sessions on youth mental health, trauma recovery, climate action, culture and belonging, and creative health.

Can pharmaceutical waste be reimagined as a living ritual? In A Sacred Walk, GAIM Fellow Poojan Gupta transforms discarded pharmaceutical blister packs into a passage of quiet reverence. Her work sits at the intersection of medical science, health consumerism, and environmentalism, interpreting empty unit‑dose pockets not as residue but as traces of human hope small prayers for protection. She proposes pill‑taking as a contemporary ritual, carrying the devotional intensity once associated with traditional acts of faith.

Drawing from her Jaipur upbringing, Gupta references the architectural logic of Hindu temples, where corridors guide devotees toward inner truth. Using approximately 51,000 stitched blister packs, she creates a transitional space illuminated by perforated, jaali‑like light.

Up close, the intimate act of sewing an inherited skill from her mother infuses industrial waste with symbolic and spiritual resonance. A Sacred Walk becomes both meditation and provocation, revealing how the sacred and the everyday quietly coexist.

The Hong Kong Global Arts & Health Festival marks the 4th international convening of the Global South Arts and Health Initiative, bringing together the world’s most influential thinkers, scientists, innovators, researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, advocates, artists, and cultural leaders. This landmark gathering explores how creativity can transform health systems, strengthen communities, and elevate well-being across the lifespan.

Inspired by the Global South Arts and Health Initiatives founded by the Global Arts in Medicine Fellowship with a presence in 45+ cities and an estimated reach of 500,000 people since 2023.

This movement continues to break new ground. From Egypt to Qatar, Brazil to Hong Kong, the Initiative’s pioneering work across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East amplifies on‑the‑ground practice, unifies cross‑sector efforts, and strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration in creative health advocacy, research evidence, education, policy, and practice.

The Hong Kong Global Arts and Health Festival is envisioned as a defining international convening that positions Hong Kong as an emerging global leader in the rapidly expanding field of arts and health.

Pioneering Creative Health:
Global Arts in Medicine Fellow Dr. Federica and Partners Launch the UAE’s First Social Prescribing Initiative in Abu Dhabi
Co‑designed and led by Global Arts in Medicine Fellow Dr. Federica Vagnarelli, a medical doctor and narrative medicine facilitator; Annunziata Tricarico, a contemporary artist and cultural strategist; and Cristina Greco, Professor of Semiotics, Collective Emotions, and Cultural Heritage at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, the initiative brings together their diverse disciplines to offer residents a space for reconnection, creativity, and shared wellbeing.

Developed in Al Zeina Community, Abu Dhabi, between 2 May and 30 May 2026, the project was conceived in response to the atmosphere of uncertainty and collective anxiety that characterised March 2026 across the region.

Together, the three professionals combined expertise in medicine, contemporary art, and communication studies to create a framework that moves beyond the traditional workshop format—positioning creative participation as a meaningful, science‑based community wellbeing intervention.
Art for Wellbeing aligns with the growing international recognition of social prescribing, an approach increasingly adopted in countries such as the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy as a complementary pathway to wellbeing.

Supported by Burjeel Medical Centre, Asteco, and Antonia Restaurants, the project offers a scalable and replicable framework for future implementation across residential communities, healthcare environments, educational institutions, and public wellbeing initiatives.
More than a completed event, Art for Wellbeing represents the beginning of a new interdisciplinary model for community-centred care in the Emirates.

The Accra Arts & Health Festival 2026 invites venue partners, creative collaborators, media partners, vendors, organisations, institutions, and community groups to join us in shaping Ghana’s first city‑wide celebration of arts, culture, wellbeing, and community transformation.

Inspired by the Global South Arts & Health Initiatives, founded by the Global Arts in Medicine Fellowship, and rooted in Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, the festival explores how creativity supports mental, emotional, physical, and community wellbeing. From July 20–26, 2026, Accra will transform into a vibrant creative health hub, alive with workshops, performances, installations, dialogues, and public art experiences across markets, cultural spaces, hospitals, schools, beaches, and neighbourhoods.

We welcome collaborators whose work aligns with any of our 12 thematic areas, including Mental Health, Public Health, Disability & Inclusion, Neuroscience & Aging, Indigenous Languages, Maternal Health, Child & Adolescent Health, Social Justice, Creative Economy, Health Education, Health Innovation, and Climate & Environmental Health.

Developed through the Global Arts in Medicine Fellowship thematic group, it brings together practitioners and artists from sixteen countries whose diverse cultural and professional perspectives illuminate the complex ways trauma is experienced, expressed, and addressed across communities. The works presented here ranging from somatic reflections and narrative testimony to visual and literary responses underscore the significance of culturally grounded, context‑specific approaches to trauma recovery.

The Global Arts in Medicine Fellowship’s cross‑cultural program design was central to this project, enabling rigorous knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary co-production, ethical reflection, and collaborative learning across regions. This anthology reflects that process: a co-curated body of global insights that advances trauma‑informed frameworks while honouring the lived experiences of knowledge‑sharers and artful responders.

Readers are invited to engage with this collection as both an educational resource and a public‑health tool, supporting compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence‑informed practice.
