WHY is a word sometimes ā€œon the tip of our tongueā€ but we cannot recall it?

In our brains, various departments are responsible for memory, figurative thinking, sensation, and speech, ā€œnamingā€. Apparently, some times they fail to work in sync so that you remember the image, feel everything connected with it, but the speech department refuses to give out the result.

The more you wish to recall, the less likely it is that you will succeed. Studies indicate that such ā€œforgettingā€ situations occur more and more frequently as we age. Yet the cause isn’t always age-related mental deterioration.

The point, as it turns out, is in the accumulated experience — the more there is, the more complicated the work of the centers involved in thinking and the more likely there are failures and internal conflicts.

WHY does a mosquito bite itch?

It’s all about the proteins contained in the saliva of a mosquito, the first bite does not bother the immune system, but the subsequent causes a violent response in the form of red permanent itchy spots.

After a certain number of bites, the immune system stops overreacting to foreign proteins and the bite sites cease to bother.

As it turns out, humans are not really adored by mosquitoes. Buffalo or rat blood, owing to the amino acid isoleucine, is more beloved by mosquitoes.

WHY do knees crunch?

Cartilage tissue lies between the two bones, reducing the friction created by walking between the bone tissue, but gradually the cartilage tissue loses its protective properties and the friction cannot be avoided.

Crunching can occur when carrying heavy loads, where cartilage tissue deforms from the increased load. Great stress on the knee comes from awkward shoes with a high heel, so at times you have to make a choice between healthy shoes with a small heel, or a spectacular one with a big rise.

WHY do people talk in their sleep?

Sleep talking is a common sleep disorder and, according to some researchers, occurs in 50% of young children. Sleep talking in adults occurs in about 5% of cases.

Dreaming is more common in people who are excitable and have experienced strong impressions, both positive and negative, on the previous day.

Still dreaming and dreaming are different things. A dream may be fantastic, unreal. Dreaming, as a rule, reflects real events experienced by a person.

A New Protein Discovered, Which Could Increase Human Lifespan by 7 Years

Gene expression is the process in which genetic information from a DNA segment is converted into RNA or protein. This study focuses on cells that express the protein p21 at high levels. These cells accumulate in various tissues as we age and appear to contribute to aging. By periodically removing these cells in mice, researchers were able to extend the animals’ lives by an average of 9%, or about seven human years. More importantly, the mice remained healthy and physically active throughout their extended lives.

The researchers used an innovative approach: genetically modified mice that allowed them to target and eliminate cells with high p21 levels. A genetic switch was created in the mice, which, when activated, caused the cells with elevated p21 to self-destruct.
