Do you ever feel hungry soon after eating, or maybe just not completely satisfied when you’re done with a meal? It can happen for so many reasons, but these are the 5 most common ones.♥️👇🏽

1. You’re healing from restriction (dieting, disordered eating, under-eating, over-exercising). This puts your body in an energy deficit that takes time to restore. You’ll feel a lack of satisfaction for a while as your body regains the energy it needs to function. The answer is to eat more 🙏🏻

2. You filled up on “air foods” (like veggies, high-fiber foods, etc). These foods can fill your stomach without giving you adequate calories (energy!). So your body will ask for more. The answer is less “air foods”, and more foods that provide energy.

3. You skimped on carbohydrates. Without carbs, the hunger hormones and neurotransmitters that signal fullness won’t be activated. Your body needs carbs to feel satisfied!

4. You didn’t eat what you actually wanted. This can result in both not eating enough, but also not eating to a point of satisfaction.

5. You didn’t eat enough earlier in the day. A very common one! You may feel like you ate “enough” at that specific meal, but if your body is still undernourished from the whole day…you’ll need more 🙏🏻

Do any of these resonate? Have you experienced this?♥️

Ayurveda is considered as one of the oldest of the traditional systems of medicine (TSMs) accepted worldwide. The ancient wisdom in this traditional system of medicine is still not exhaustively explored.

The junction of the rich knowledge from different traditional systems of medicine can lead to new avenues in herbal drug discovery process.

The lack of the understanding of the differences and similarities between the theoretical doctrines of these systems is the major hurdle towards their convergence apart from the other impediments in the discovery of plant based medicines. This review aims to bring into limelight the age old history and the basic principles of Ayurveda.

This would help the budding scholars, researchers and practitioners gain deeper perspicuity of traditional systems of medicine, facilitate strengthening of the commonalities and overcome the challenges towards their global acceptance and harmonization of such medicinal systems.

A balanced diet is about eating all the necessary food groups daily so that your body gets the nutrients it needs for healthy functioning, such as protein, carbs, calcium, vitamins and minerals. It also means measuring your calorie consumption, to meet your body’s energy needs. Nutritional requirements come from the following food groups: fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and lean proteins.

Nutrition: What Is It and Why Is It Important

Malnutrition is a complex problem to solve but, as levels of undernutrition and obesity rise, something must be done.

– Dr Francesco Branca, leading food health expert, WHO.

What is Nutrition and Why Does It Matter?
Nutrition, aliment, or nourishment is the supply of materials – food – required by organisms to stay alive. Our food choices affect our health and this is why they say — we are what we eat.
Good nutrition forms an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activities, our diet can help us maintain a healthy weight, reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases and promoting our overall health.

What is the Impact of Nutrition on Your Health?

Millions of people are suffering from different forms of malnutrition. According to WHO, currently, in India, 1.9 billion adults are overweight or obese while 462 million are underweight. Among children, 52 million under-fives are suffering from wasting, where they have a low weight for height.

As mentioned earlier, nutrition is a critical part of our health and development. Malnutrition, in any form, poses threats to human health. Today the world faces a double burden of malnutrition that includes both undernutrition and overweight, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Better nutrition is directly related to improved maternal, infant, and child health, better immune systems, safer pregnancy and childbirth, reduced risks of non-communicable diseases (like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases), and enhanced longevity. Healthier children learn better. Individuals who get adequate nutrition are usually more productive.

Thus, the link between good nutrition and healthy weight lowered the risk of chronic diseases, and overall health is too important to ignore. By taking steps to eat healthily, you’ll be ensuring that you have access to the nutrients your body needs to stay active, healthy, and strong. As with physical activities, making small changes in your diet can go a long way, and it is easier than you think!

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency

Did you know that iron deficiency is the most common nutrient disorder in the world? You or someone close has probably experienced some of these symptoms, here’s what to do to help.

Why is it such an important nutrient?

Iron helps deliver oxygen around the body. So, the noticeable benefits of having good levels include sky-rocketing energy, strong hair and nails, and a really effective immune system too.

Popping an iron pill isn’t always the answer:

Many iron supplements are hard to digest, don’t absorb and can cause constipation or stomach upset. Commercial, lab-made supplements also often contain unwanted additives, like binders, fillers and preservatives.

Eat 3-4 servings of your choice of these iron-rich whole foods daily:

💕 Spirulina - a valuable source of easily absorbable iron. Organic Burst Spirulina is grown in pure mineral water and tested free from toxins including heavy metals, chemical fertilisers and algal toxins.
💕 Chlorella - contains naturally bioavailable iron and ours provides almost 2x more nutrients 💎 due to a patented process of cracking its tough cell wall.
💕 Dried Apricots - go for the natural ones free from sulphur dioxide.
💕 Tempeh – delicious fermented soya beans. It’s also great for your gut bacteria, which helps nutrient absorption.
💕 Hummus – made with sesame paste (tahini) and chickpeas, which are both great sources of iron.
💕 Spinach – perfect iron addition to your smoothies or meals.
💕 Mushrooms – go for any variety but morels are the highest in iron if you can get these!
💕 Sun-dried tomatoes – so tasty and perfect to boost flavour in a plant-based dish.
