Strengthening grassroots healthcare through focused review and coordinated action.

Smt. Saptati Endow, Co-District Commissioner, Patharkandi & Additional District Commissioner (Health), Sribhumi, held a review meeting along with DPM, NHM and DDM, NHM, in the presence of SDM&HO, BPMU team and frontline health workers of Patharkandi BPHC.

The meeting focused on reviewing key health service delivery indicators, identifying field-level challenges and strengthening coordination among health teams to ensure timely, accessible and quality healthcare services for the community.

Special emphasis was laid on strengthening the role of frontline workers and improving effective implementation of public health programmes at the grassroots level.

Sri Jayanta Bora, ADC, Sribhumi, chaired an inter-departmental meeting at R. K. Nagar BPHC in the presence of Smt. Rasika Islam, Executive Magistrate; Smt. Antara Paul, Circle Officer; DME, NHM; BDOs; Police Personnel; SDM&HO; and the BPMU team of R. K. Nagar BPHC.

The meeting focused on strengthening community support and coordinated action for effective health service delivery, with special emphasis on ensuring safe motherhood and healthy childhood. The officials discussed the importance of timely access to maternal and child healthcare services and stronger coordination between the administration, health system, frontline workers and the community.

Smt. Rasika Islam, Executive Magistrate & BO (Health), Sribhumi, conducted a comprehensive review of key health parameters of Kachuadam BPHC during the Block PHC Level Monthly Review Meeting held at the Conference Hall of Srigouri CHC.

The review was conducted along with District Level Health Officials in the presence of the Block Health Team, ASHAs, ANMs and AWWs. Discussions focused on assessment of ongoing health programmes, key service-delivery indicators, identification of gaps, and strengthening coordinated efforts to improve the quality and reach of healthcare services at the grassroots level.

Such regular reviews and supportive monitoring play an important role in ensuring effective implementation of public health programmes and strengthening healthcare delivery across Sribhumi district.

An urgent coordination meeting was held at the Nilambazar Circle Office under the chairmanship of ADC, Sribhumi, in the presence of BO(H), CO, BDO, O/C-In-Charge, SDM&HO, DPMU, BPMU and other concerned officials.

The meeting focused on ensuring 100% tracking of all Pregnant Women (PW) nearing their Expected Date of Delivery (EDD) within the next 7 days and facilitating safe institutional deliveries at designated health facilities.

The initiative aims to strengthen timely maternal care, prevent avoidable complications, and reduce preventable infant deaths in Nilambazar Block, one of the major contributing blocks in Sribhumi district.

Utprerna Programme

A training programme under the Utprerna Programme was conducted at Nilambazar BPHC to orient and strengthen ASHAs on the digitalisation of their routine activities.

The initiative focuses on transitioning key ASHA activities from manual processes to digital platforms, enabling:

✅ Digital recording of field-level activities
✅ Better monitoring and follow-up
✅ Improved data quality and transparency
✅ More efficient delivery of community-based health services

🪱 National Deworming Day 2026 | Sribhumi

“Dewormed Children, Healthy Future” — With this objective, National Deworming Day (NDD) 2026 was launched across Sribhumi district today, 10 August 2026.

The district-level inaugural programme was held at Srigouri Higher Secondary School and was inaugurated by Dr. Matindra Sutradhar, Joint Director of Health Services, Sribhumi.

The programme was attended by Milan Jyoti Das, In-charge Principal, Srigouri Higher Secondary School; Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert, NHM; Mujakkir Hussain Choudhury, Block Programme Manager; Gobinda Kalita, RBSK Coordinator, along with teachers, students and health personnel.

🔹 Around 4 lakh children and adolescents across Sribhumi district are targeted to receive Albendazole tablets under the campaign.

🔹 National Deworming Day is observed twice every year to protect children and adolescents from intestinal worm infections and promote better nutrition, physical growth, learning ability and overall well-being.

🔹 A Mop-up Day will be observed on 17 August 2026 to ensure that children who could not receive the deworming tablet today are also covered.

The NDD campaign was also launched simultaneously at the block level across Sribhumi district, with deworming activities being carried out through schools, Anganwadi Centres and other designated institutions with the active participation of health workers and teachers.

🌸 World Breastfeeding Week 2026 Launched in Sribhumi

The week-long observance of World Breastfeeding Week 2026 was inaugurated today at the Conference Hall of Karimganj Civil Hospital, Sribhumi.

The programme was graced by Dr. Matindra Sutradhar, Joint Director of Health Services, Sribhumi, along with Dr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury, District Nodal Officer (AYUSH) and Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert, NHM.

The programme emphasized the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding with appropriate complementary feeding up to two years and beyond. Urban ASHAs, GNM Trainees, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel participated enthusiastically, reaffirming their commitment to promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices across the district.

Throughout the week, awareness programmes and community outreach activities will be conducted across Sribhumi to encourage mothers and families to support breastfeeding and give every child the healthiest start in life.

World Hepatitis Day 2026 was observed at Karimganj Civil Hospital by NHM Sribhumi under the theme "Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down."

Dr. Matindra Sutradhar, Joint Director of Health Services, urged people to opt for early testing and timely treatment. It was also highlighted that FREE Hepatitis diagnostic testing and treatment are available at Karimganj Civil Hospital.

The programme was attended by Dr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury (DNO, AYUSH), Suman Choudhury (District Media Expert), Sumit Roy (District Epidemiologist), Nursing Trainees and Urban ASHAs.
