Day 1: Kids Yoga Series

Jungle Adventure (Energy)

Physical awakening, releasing trapped physical tension, and building a sense of playful confidence.

Breathing: Lion’s Breath (Inhale deeply, exhale forcefully while sticking the tongue out and making a "roar" sound)

Have the kids sit on their heels with hands resting on their knees, fingers splayed wide like sharp claws. Instruct them to take a deep, silent breath in through the nose, expanding the chest. On the exhale, they lean forward slightly, open their mouths wide, stick their tongues out toward their chins, and release a loud, guttural "ROAR!" sound from the back of the throat while looking up toward the ceiling.
Repetitions: 3 to 5 times

Poses: Lion Pose (Simhasana), Warrior I (Active Gorilla), Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana - slithering like a snake)

Active Gorilla (Warrior I Variation): Step one foot forward into a deep lunge with the back foot grounded at an angle. Instead of just holding the arms up, have the kids thump their chests lightly like playful gorillas to wake up the respiratory muscles and build strong, stable legs

Lion Pose (Simhasana): Staying low in a kneeling squat, press the palms firmly into the mat. Lean forward to stretch the wrists and forearms while engaging the core

Slithering Snake (Cobra Pose / Bhujangasana): Lie flat on the belly with hands under the shoulders. Hug the elbows close to the ribs. Pressing down through the tops of the feet, lift the chest using the upper back muscles, making a soft "Sssss" sound to lengthen the breath.

Cooldown: Sleeping Tiger
Lie flat on the belly, stack the hands to make a pillow for the forehead, close the eyes, and take slow, deep breaths into the lower back.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) and Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose).

🔹 **Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)**
This gentle backbend opens the chest, shoulders, and lungs, allowing for deeper breathing and increased oxygen intake. By expanding the front body, Cobra Pose stimulates circulation around the heart and spine while strengthening the back muscles. It also helps counteract the effects of prolonged sitting and poor posture, leaving you feeling more open, energized, and refreshed.

🔹 **Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)**
Bridge Pose is a rejuvenating backbend that lifts the chest toward the chin, encouraging healthy blood flow to the heart, lungs, and brain. It strengthens the legs, glutes, and back while stretching the chest and hip flexors. This pose also helps calm the mind, reduce stress, and improve overall circulation throughout the body.
