Project ADHUNA A FOGSI initiative focused on improving the quality of intrapartum & newborn care in private health facilities.

Dr. Kiran Pandey, Former HOD ( Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology) - GSVM Medical College explains the way care is communicated matters as much as the care itself.

Clear, compassionate communication can reduce fear, build trust, and improve clinical outcomes for mothers.

Sometimes, the most powerful intervention is simply being heard and supported.

Postpartum or post-op anemia hits hard, but blood transfusions aren't always the answer. Dr. Basab Mukherjee, Past VP FOGSI highlights IV iron as a safe, effective alternative—especially for patients already on IV drips with low hemoglobin. Families prefer it, allergic reactions are rare (and mostly unfounded), and its inpatient use is surging with huge outpatient potential ahead.

Dr. Niranjan Chavan, Treasurer, FOGSI highlights Intravenous Ferric Carboxymaltose (IV FCM) as a transformative, rapid anemia treatment—boosting hemoglobin by 2-3 g% in weeks, minimizing side effects and complications like preterm labor and postpartum hemorrhage.

Nearly 60% of pregnant women in India are affected by anaemia—a silent but serious health risk.

In this important message, Dr. Hema Divakar highlights the importance of early detection and timely intervention across all stages of pregnancy.

💉 Injectable Iron (IV FCM) can play a vital role in managing moderate to severe anaemia, especially when oral iron is insufficient.

🎯 Achieving optimal haemoglobin levels (>11 g/dL) by the third trimester supports foetal brain development and growth.

Post-delivery care is equally important to help restore maternal iron levels after birth.

From pre-pregnancy to postnatal care, proactive anaemia management can make a lasting difference for mothers and their babies.

Dr. Narendra Malhotra highlights breastfeeding-friendly contraceptive options like barriers, progesterone-only pills, IUCDs, and especially hormonal implants (LARC) that provide 2–3 years of effective spacing. These implants are easy to use, safe, and even reduce menstrual bleeding, supporting a mother’s overall well-being. By choosing the right postpartum contraception, women gain the freedom to focus on recovery, family, and personal goals with confidence.
