Back pain doesn’t have to become a part of ageing. Small daily habits can make a big difference.

✔️ Maintain good posture and keep your screen at eye level.

✔️ Stretch regularly with simple exercises like Cat Cow and Child’s Pose.

✔️ Lift objects by bending your hips and knees, not your back.

✔️ Avoid sitting or lying down for long hours. Keep moving throughout the day.

✔️ Choose a medium firm or memory foam mattress for better back support.

✔️ Don’t ignore stress. It can contribute to lower back pain too.

Your bones may be weaker than you think. 🦴

A DXA scan helps diagnose osteoporosis by measuring your T-score. If your T-score is ≤ -2.5, especially if you’ve already had a fracture, calcium and vitamin D alone may not be enough. You may need prescription medications to reduce bone loss or help build new bone.

Remember:
✔️ Normal blood calcium doesn’t mean your bones have enough calcium.
✔️ Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption and bone health.
✔️ The right treatment should always be guided by a rheumatologist.

Prevention is always better than treatment. Stay tuned for our next reel on how to prevent osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a silent, painless disease that often shows no symptoms until a fracture occurs. The most common fractures affect the spine, hip, wrist, and ribs. In some cases, silent spine fractures can lead to loss of height or a stooped posture.

A DEXA scan helps detect osteoporosis early. A T-score below -2.5 indicates a significantly higher risk of fractures.

Screening is especially important for postmenopausal women, people with a history of smoking or heavy alcohol use, those on long-term steroid therapy, and cancer patients receiving intensive chemotherapy.

Feeling better doesn’t always mean it’s time to stop your medicines.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic condition, and periods of improvement are a normal part of the journey. While some patients may be able to reduce or stop medications under medical supervision, that decision should always be made by a rheumatologist.

Stopping treatment suddenly can trigger a flare, making the disease harder to control and sometimes requiring stronger, more expensive medications to get things back on track.

Always speak to your rheumatologist before making any changes to your treatment plan.

Can arthritis be cured permanently?

✅ Septic arthritis – often curable with timely antibiotics and proper hospital care.

✅ Post-viral arthritis (such as after chikungunya) – most patients recover completely.

✅ Reactive arthritis – many patients achieve permanent recovery.

❌ Osteoarthritis
❌ Rheumatoid arthritis
❌ Spondyloarthritis
❌ Sjögren’s syndrome
❌ Lupus

These conditions usually do not have a permanent cure, but with the right treatment from a rheumatologist, patients can lead normal lives and prevent complications.

❌ MYTH: Arthritis only happens in old age
✅ FACT: Conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Spondylitis, Lupus & Sjogren’s can start at a young age too.

❌ MYTH: Sour foods cause arthritis
✅ FACT: No scientific study has proven this.

❌ MYTH: Winter worsens arthritic pain
✅ FACT: Cold weather increases stiffness and reduced movement can make symptoms feel worse.

❌ MYTH: If parents have arthritis, children will definitely get it too
✅ FACT: Family history may increase risk, but it is not guaranteed.

❌ MYTH: Painkillers cure arthritis
✅ FACT: Painkillers only reduce symptoms. Proper treatment is needed to control inflammation and disease progression.

❌ MYTH: Vitamin D deficiency causes arthritis
✅ FACT: Low Vitamin D can cause weakness and body pain, but not inflammatory arthritis with joint swelling.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the joints, causing inflammation, pain, and stiffness. It is not age-related degeneration.

Untreated RA can lead to permanent joint damage and deformities. Bent or misaligned fingers suggest the disease has been present for some time and treatment may have been delayed.

Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to prevent further joint damage and preserve function.

Watch for:
- Morning stiffness in joints
• Joint pain and swelling

Consult a doctor early. Timely treatment can slow disease progression and protect your joints

Cutting lemon, curd, tomato or milk is NOT a treatment.

In Rheumatoid Arthritis,
there is no miracle diet that can replace medicines.

Yes, you’ll hear about anti-inflammatory diets and omega-3…
but there’s no strong scientific evidence that they can treat or control RA on their own.

But here’s what actually works 👇

In Osteoarthritis,
weight loss is key.

✔️ 1 kg weight loss = 4 kg less load on your knees
✔️ Losing just 7% body weight can reduce pain by up to 50%

Don’t fall for WhatsApp advice.
Follow science. Follow the right treatment.

Follow The Arthritis Doctor to know the answer.

Youngsters today are dealing with constant neck and shoulder pain.

It’s not a disease — it’s your lifestyle.

Chronic stress. Back-to-back deadlines. Screen addiction. Late-night Netflix. Incomplete sleep cycles.

Hours spent hunched over laptops and phones = poor posture every single day.

Your trapezius (neck & shoulder blade muscle) stays overworked, goes into fatigue, then spasm — that’s why it hurts here… and there.

Ignore it now, and it only gets worse — stiffness, headaches, reduced mobility.

Your body is warning you. Don’t normalize the pain.

Fix your habits before your body forces you to.
